I have my messed up origins; I can't control my mind. Also, did you know that cashews grow on top of apples?

1) We have our own full base from which the release is formed.Lafuente_Astronomy wrote:Perhaps you can contribute your addon to the Celestia Origin team for inclusion in their next release
2) Include the full base in the release = the release will be very heavy for the vast majority of systems.

I do have a preliminary map of Helene from a paper that was published somewhere (I forget) that I attempted to make a map out of before. I failed because I didn't have enough experience at the time, but a problem I noticed is that Helene isn't really spherical, its more like a polyhedron (like Proteus).
I will attempt to make a map though. Here goes nothing! I'll try to find the paper also.

Oh, silly me, I think I remember seeing such a paper, but I didn't bother saving it.

Is it this, by any chance? (Thomas et al. 2013) It has an incomplete map of Helene, as well as map-like diagrams of craters and flows.

I believe it is, but luckily I had a copy of the map saved to my Google Drive.

Anyway I am basically done with the map, however I was not able to project this https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Helene_over_Saturn_(color).jpg
image correctly. I just couldn't find a way to do it.
So I consider this map a bit of a failure with my limited texturing knowledge.

I'm really debating whether I should compile the Helene addon.
But meanwhile.... a new moon is on the way....

I have a much better suggestion: I have the power to merge your posts into one. What I'll do is that I'll merge them and create a single post entitled "Planets, Moons and other Solar System Objects for Celestia", and it's in that post where anyone wanting to share their stuff related to the aforementioned title can place and share their content.

That sounds like a good idea. Although it will prevent people from having to scroll through pages of the forum, the topic should be callled "Post your addons here" or similar. That way, it will encourage people to post there.

Hello. Sorry for late reply. I mean, that's the one thing I somewhat dislike about this Forum, that it does not notify you if there are any new posts or replies even if you bookmarked and subscribed that topic. I have to constantly refresh the page to see new notifications, which becomes a big problem if I'm busy.
But going back, alright. I'll use this post and merge it with your "My Addons" post. Then from there, I'll rename it to something official but I'll send in a new message encouraging everyone to post their Solar System-related addons here.
P.S If you or anyone here has addons for Extrasolar objects, Stars and Exoplanets, post them in this post: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=18405. If we have a "Spacecrafts for Celestia" post, then we should have posts for other addons too!

Turns out gironde already made a post for solar system objects, but unfortunately, it didn't get any replies, so I'm gonna use that post as the foundation for this topic
Also, from now on, anyone who wants to post addons in the Forum that are related to Solar System Objects, be it planets, moons, asteroids, comets, kuiper belt objects, oort cloud objects, artificial satellites and the like, post it here. This is to ensure that there'll be a unified post for addons related to the title of the post at hand. Thank you and bon voyage

Yup. The idea is just like "Spacecrafts for Celestia", the purpose is to keep any related addons into a single thread.

All of this goes in the right direction.
So I start; I found a site that seems abandoned today and that dates from the great era of 'geocities'.
http://www.jestrstuff.50megs.com/extras/addons/addons.html
There are the models and textures of the majority of the minor moons and moons of the Solar System.
site specificity at the time, 3DS files are downloaded in .jpg and just rename them to 3ds. The texture file is designated in the 3ds. By exporting the 3ds format to cmod, it is possible to delete this link to the texture which allows to name the texture in the .ssc file.
I do not know what textures are worth at the scientific level but they have the merit to exist.
Good fishing !

I found it in the links of my old pc.
On the images (screenshots) that embellish the site we can see the date of 2003.
On the site, there are links to GeoCities but no longer work because GeoCities has been closed by Yahoo! in 2009.
The Jestrstuff site on 50megs.com is still present but for how long? There seems to be no update for a long time.
For my part, I downloaded all the textures and models.

It appears that the exoplanet forum does not exist.P.S If you or anyone here has addons for Extrasolar objects, Stars and Exoplanets, post them in this post: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=18405. If we have a "Spacecrafts for Celestia" post, then we should have posts for other addons too!

It does. It's entitled "Extrasolar, Stars and Exoplanets for Celestia". It should be among the announcement posts
