Nice work!

My TRAPPIST-1 texture designs are based on Io, Mars, Enceladus, Europa and Earth textures. The main problem is in my opinion to imagine a "real" exoplanet...There are a lot of known unknowns and a lot of unknown unknowns.

The 8k textures are too big to upload (the add-on is currently larger than 500 MB - with clouds), but here are the actual versions in Celestia:

I'm newbie, I just signed up for this forum last week.
I was planning on showing you guys my textures, but john71, your textures are flat out the best ever made.
John Van Vliet's are great too, and he's a great and pure artist, but there's no comparison.

Since they're too big for you to upload, maybe because the computer isn't powerful enough or maybe you could reduce the texture sizes to 4k(4096x2048) or maybe the biggest you could probably upload is 6k (6144x3072)

Still, your work is outstanding and makes so much sense, I do believe the Neptune-like impression on TRAPPIST-1 g for NASA is due to a large greenhouse effect and lots of clouds and weather, but you do good with yours, maybe add a moderate pinch effect towards the starlit side, it's like MiR's 51 Pegasi texture, but to a lesser extent.
The clouds would look kinda fuzzy and mid-tone, and not completely opaque (there would be breaks in areas), but still, your work is amazing and phenomenal.

It takes imagination to make them how you want them, and you guys, and I, have excellent imagination.

I hope to enjoy them.

john71, These textures are great, I can't even make TRAPPIST-1 textures that good, no matter what they're based on, I would try my best, You are a true artist.
I always felt they make the most sense to have in Celestia, which I use since 2011, and what they might look like up close.
To upload the textures, their sizes may need to be reduced to either 6k or 4k, but again, excellent work.
This add-on needs to be on the Motherlode, which I go on, Users would LOVE it!
A+

Thank you very much, but the original idea belongs to Tim Pyle and Robert Hurt.

Also I got inspiration from Celestia.sci and Dr. Fridger Schrempp and others on that forum.

Selden helped me with the tidally locked orbits.

I studied the NASA textures and there are some significant details I missed:

1.) the icefields are not like on an icemoon, they are only the surface layer of relatively warm oceans (e and f)

2.) there are icefields on TRAPPIST-1e, it is not a pure waterplanet with oceans

3.) there are small icefields on TRAPPIST-1d, but on the dry and dark landmasses

4.) the movement and direction of clouds is different on TRAPPIST-1d.

I will correct these.

Here are the NASA pictures with the details:

john71, Well congratulations to Tim Pyle and Robert Hurt, but also congrats to you for your tries and imagination.
You really do good at art and imagination, but so do they, but again, I would like to see how they turn out, but then again, being to big for upload at 8k, might need reducing to 6k or 4k (as that is usually how large fictional exoplanet textures get).

john71, Take your time, I love the results, keep up the good work, and again, your impression's getting an A+ and when I saw first saw these textures, I thought they were satisfying, and they are great, again keep up the great work.

It's Motherlode Grade A++, and rated Excellent.

Thanks. It is getting very complex to create a realistic texture.

Different water and atmospheric colors are needed...

Here are the actual versions/alternatives:

John71, I would love to have a copy of the .zip or .rar file for your version of Trappist-1; it's far better than what was offered on the Celestia Motherlode.

I haven't been back on this forum in half a year. I should check the Celestia Motherlode to see if the corrected Trappist-1 addon was ever added.

roninwolf1981, the corrected TRAPPIST-1 addon was never added (though you probably already know by now). In fact, by this point, it's safe to assume that the Celestia Motherlode is dead. Nothing's been updated since January 5th.

I feel like everyone should start archiving all of the downloads in the Celestia Motherlode in the Wayback Machine, so that if the website goes down (which inevitably will happen soon, based on how it currently is) people can still download stuff there.

Spectacular! Is it possible to get this addon?
