Squares in the sky

Post #1by W0RLDBUILDER » 05.10.2011, 18:14

I tried running Celestia on a school computer (which at the moment is my only way of running it at all) and on Points star mode, the stars are rendered as huge squares in the sky. These squares change size whenever the viewpoint is changed. It's running Win7 Professional 32-bit on an HP Compaq 6200 Pro with 4 GB of RAM.

That's caused by buggy graphics drivers. You'll have to convince the system administrator to update the drivers.

I don't think he'll do anything. This computer was supposed to be in a month ago, and I only got it last week. I'll ask him about the drivers, but it'll be a couple months before anything happens.

Ours suddenly had this issue when had not for years. Changing points to discs worked, but still.. shouldn't have b/c all the drivers ARE updated, we did that before trying the forum here. Any ideas why?

This happens when using "Points" mode on Celestia 1.6.x with Intel graphics.

Man, thanks! I've been watching for this solution for a really long time. Now everything is working perfectly

Btw on this kind of computer try to install more old versions of a project. Should be more fittable for the older computers.
