Re: Galileo nears its end...

What I did was follow Galileo and when it was close to Jupiter, I made another view that tracked the earth and just when the earth disappeared behind Jupiter from Galileo's view, I traveled to the earth at the speed of light to see how long it took for the last possible signals to reach earth. Re: Shuttle/ISS

Why not use Beginning and Ending times and several models to show how they expanded the ISS?

Re: Hello

I think that it might be a good idea for the program to be able to create html files that the info urls could link to. The html file could list properties of the body like the fact sheets and nine planets web sites do. Then it could be edited to add links to stuff about whatever or whoever lived on ...

Introduction to Celestia, paragraph 2... ... to visit stars circling the center of the Milky Way beyond the confines of our Sun. Celestia's star database does not contain any stars in the center of the Milky Way. Rather, it contains stars only in our "neighborhood", on the outside arm of the Milky ...

Re: Hello

Well, I also wanted to create such a program. I'm in the progress of gathering the information. I want to allow the the user to put the planets at any distance or peroid they want and then have the corresponding peroid or distance calculated. Maybe the program could display the range of disntances f...

Re: asteroïds circle and hoor's could

There are already files for the asteroid belt, Jovian Trojans, the Centaurs and the Kuiper belt. They are listed on Mike's web site. http://mikecelestia.bravehost.com/index.htm There used to be a big asteroid addon with thousands of them, and another version with only those 50 km or larger. But the ...

Re: Latitude/longitude grid overlays

Recently, I wondered if the other planets happened to have north and south stars that could be of use to future explorers if we ever send people to other planets. Since the axial tilts can be different, I used the go to object feature to go to 90 degrees north and south and the "*' key to look back ...

Re: Suggestion for Jack, other modellers

Since making the lauch pads could involve creating 3ds models of them, I'm asking if anyone here uses this modeler. http://www.wings3d.com/ It can import and export 3ds files, among other formats. By the way, it can also use a plugin to export to POV-Ray 3.5 so you could make nice pictures of the sp...

I'm curious to know, has anyone else tried this addon? if so, what've you thought of it?? The OpenUniverse program has like 3 splash screens and chose one to display at startup and displayed the filenames of what it was loading.

How is the bandwidth at 50megs.com? If it's better than Geocities, maybe I could put the virtual texture I have at my geocities sites there instead.

Re: Wormholes and other quantum singularities

I would just use the black hole addon that's somewhere out there. But if you want to actually go into black holes or see naked singularities I guess that you would need to somehow make things look distorted. If you want wormholes that really take you to other places I guess a new kind of object coul...

Re: Virtual Textures

AFTER WAITING 4 hours..... I tried it, it works well. BUT, it runs a bit slower than using a whole 16k texture. :( I thought it was suppose to speed up things. My card is a Radeon 7000 and the OpenGL info in Celestia says that the maximum texture size was 2k so a 16k texture would take forever to l...

I looked at the Geocities page and found that their free service has 3gb bandwidth per month measured hourly. What exactly does that mean? :? Re: wheather

I guess that it could be hard. But I thought of a possible way, use small textures that cover only part of the planet. They would have alpha channels like cloud maps. They would be like mini cloud maps that could be moved across the planet's surface, maybe by using predefined tracks so we could have...

How do I change between the two? I can't find any information on that topic. This is from the Help->Controls in the Windows version: Ctrl+V : Cycle between supported OpenGL render paths It's a good idea to read through that list of controls to find any that you may not be aware of. Brendan

Re: "Clean" or "Dirty" spaceship textures?

I didn't vote in the poll because I have an idea. Why not have the textures of space probes start out as clean and then become dirty over time. I guess we could use Beginning and Ending with different versions of the spacecraft. Or would such dates be added to textures so we could have one object wi...
