Re: Cloud bump maps and cloud colouring feature?

Yes, the shadows get longer, but the problem is that a bump map only works with surface textures. The cloud texture is above the surface texture. So we need a cloud bump map on the level of the clouds and we need a cloud shadow texture on the surface texture. Cloud shadows should also work but they ...

Re: Cloud bump maps and cloud colouring feature?

Yes, very nice work! These are real shadows! Is it possible to implement these functions in Celestia?

The bump map is really good! I understand your reasons and from far away the planet looks more real this way. But first it seemed somehow too artificial...

Re: node generated textures

selden , I mean I make planets in Celestia using 4 maps: surface, specular, bump and cloud maps. Surface maps are (at least for me) pictures of the planet's imaginary flat surface as you can see every part of it from above at noon . They don't have depth or 3D perspective. Bump maps are creating sh...

Re: node generated textures

Very nice, but why are you using bump maps on the actual surface textures?

Re: Cloud bump maps and cloud colouring feature?

That would be really fantastic! Celestia would need some kind of cloud bump map to achieve this effect.

Celestia development: what's happening?

Can I ask what's happening with Celestia development?

Do the project/participants need crowdfunding?

Do the original programmers help the work?

Can we get a regular update?

Re: Fusing Celestia with Proland?

As I understand it, only Celestia has the ability to move/choose between celestial bodies, but Proland can procedurally simulate the surfaces of Earth-like and possibly other planets. I suspect that it can be modified to simulate other surface environments too...

This is kinda very cool. And yes, I really beg you for your 16k cloud map... :help: In my opinion this is not an old app, this is the best app in astronomy. I hope the 64 bit conversion w...
