Re: Can someone help me with Vista, please?

I would suggest to not install Celestia to the program files folder of Vista!
To prevent any problems it should go to e.g. C:\Celestia\ or similar.

Re: Earth's Moon in Celestia

In the english version, when you go to Earth's moon, it simply says "Moon," as we all know. My question is, why is it that? Why doesn't it say "Luna" or something like that instead? Well, ask your neighbor what and where "Luna" is! Probably the answer will be: "I ...

Re: New cel commands for Celestia 1.6.0

The setambientlight and setfaintestautomag45deg commands are not part of the global set command: setambientlight { brightness 0.2 } Yes, but AFAIK setambientlight { brightness 0.2 } has become obsolete today and is replaced with set {name "AmbientLightLevel" value 0.2 } . Just my two cent...

Re: New cel commands for Celestia 1.6.0

Vincent, this new CEL features are great! Nevertheless, I have an objection concerning the setgalaxylightgain-command: Shouldn't we implement 'setgalaxylightgain' to the global set-command in order to correspond to the standards? Instead of setgalaxylightgain {gain 0.5} we should use set {name "...

Re: Request for Aid: SSC Scripting Guide

How did we go from "the time it takes for an object to orbit its host" to the code of "Period 0.6152". What does that mean? 0.6152 ? Graye, that's simple: Siderial orbital period of Venus is 224.701 days. One year = 365.25 days 224.701 / 365.250 = 0.61519780971 ~ 0.6152 Adironda...

I though he had some time ago. Of course Selden also provides them on his site . Kolano, since 'SDSS DR2 Galaxies' is a data plot add-on you have to look at the 'Extrasolar: Data Plots'-section: http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/dataplots.php His add-on is available there since 2004-11-04! ...

Re: Motherlode Peer Group Review

Moreover, and this is a suggestion, it could be very useful, IMHO, not only for newbyes but for old geezers like me too, to have in the group main page the date of issue of the addon, or texture, or script, and not, as actually is, in the single addon page. Andrea, this sounds good but isn't that e...

FYI:
In addition the start page reads in the third paragraph:

"If you want to leave a comment about the add-on or rate the add-on's quality,
just click on the magnifying glass in the info column of each add-on."

We can't control this in detail and such a requirement bursts like a bubble.

Oh, please, Ulrich, there is no hostility here. Unfortunately, I have the impression. The "hostility" is scattered in the forums. I'm not talking only about this thread. See also: http://celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11812 or http://celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&...

Re: Motherlode Peer Group Review

Bob, let me point out some things here: 1. Jdou died in early 2007 2. 'spaceimaging.com' was a website that provided close ups of the Earth and so on (and is obviously off line nowadays / replaced by an other site) 3. Maybe the included URL was a part of the licence Nevertheless the URL made the add...

I'm in a hurry and I will be off line for the rest of the day. So just a brief response here. I also can only suggest to try Jack's email adress on his website. @ ormstont: Thomas, I'm sure that our spacecraft specialists here (like ElChristou or Runar, just to mention two of them) would be able to ...

I apologize, but I simply did not know that this capability even existed in Celestia's CEL scripting now. Obviously, the scripting guides need to be updated. <sigh> Bob, the 'up' directive is not new! :D I do know it at least since 1.3 ... Take a look in Don's scripting guide ('goto' = page 25 &...

If set to true, the color will be combined with the texture by multiplying (or 'modulating' in OpenGL terminology.) For example, if you have a black and white texture and specify BlendTexture true, the object will be colored with various shades of the object color. If the object color is white ([ 1...

Can someone tell me something about the directive 'BlendTexture' -> true | false ?

Chris? Is this obsolete?
What did it do in former versions?
