Re: Creating a 3D Mars Model from USGS ISIS3 Data

I used to create meshes of Mars. The ones I never published were rather large. I was able to split the meshes into "tiles". As in virtual textures. The cmod file format allowed me to assign a single texture to each "model tile". The model file had 4 meshes. So if I wanted a 32k ...

Re: Creating a 3D Mars Model from USGS ISIS3 Data

We have long ago discovered the limiting resolution of monolithic textures in conjunction with models - 8k (8192 x 4096 px). On the computer I'm using, the limit appears to be 16k rather than 8k. On my home computer (to which I currently do not have access), the limit is much higher, almost but not...

Creating a 3D Mars Model from USGS ISIS3 Data

NOTE: The thread according to the current topic title starts with cartrite's first reply (post #6). Hello, I am currently trying to apply a high-definition texture (32k) to a 3d model in Celestia, since VTs are incompatible with models. However, upon attempting to render the model with the texture ...

If you get the installer built, could you share it? I, too, would like to experiment with 1.7.0.

k but ur not allowed to use any of the textures. Not allowed to use them for what exactly? I can understand that they can't be redistributed, but frankly there's nothing to stop one person from using the textures for one of his own creations (as long as they don't put it up for download anywhere). ...

Re: Vision's Addons

Not at all. There is a great deal of evidence against Young Earth Creationism and for an old age of Earth and the Universe, but the multiverse theory, while not (yet) testable, is certainly plausible. I would disagree that there is a lot of evidence against Young Earth Creationism. 1. All evidence ...

Re: Vision's Addons

Honestly, I believe that the multiverse exists, just that we don't have the equipment or technology to find them out, yet. Just imagine that the multiverse is space, and we are the humans of the old days, long before we launched our first rocket, and saw Space for the first time. The multiverse is ...

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

The goal was to show that there are other models for some years and they are textured ... not just colored (or black & white) If you look closely at toutatis's models, you can see that they are in fact textured, just the textures are either black, white, or blue (for the solar panels) in most c...

It actually appears the post has been deleted, which is good.

The file favorites.cel does not exist in the Celestia directory (folder) proper. Where would this file normally reside on a Windows 7 machine? I believe it is in the following directory: C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Roaming\Celestia At least that's where the bookmarks.xbel file is located for v...

John did post an 8k Ganymede Normal Map some time ago, but it has since been taken down. I, having a copy of it, uploaded it here.
