More comets for Celestia

Hello, Here is a ssc file which brings 227 additionnal comets to Celestia. The data come from the IAU Minor Planet Center http://www.minorplanetcenter.net The limited goal of this file is to provide the position of each comet. I have no information about the size or the rotation of each comet. So th...

Re: C/2013 A1 (mars)

it does not seem to get very close with this orbit, though. I get only about a third of one AU Yes. For me it is because SemiMajorAxis is not relevant for hyperbolic orbits. just comment out the corresponding line like this # SemiMajorAxis -3613.3711384783 #Hyperbolic orbit (or just delete it) :!:...

No, I did not put these lines (I'm not that dumb  ) Don't be offended. I made ??the mistake and I thought that someone else could have done it too. Could you try the attached file that works well for me ? (it is zipped because files with ssc extension are not allowed as post attachment...

Re: C/2013 A1 (mars)

Should work! models and textures are already present in Celestia at the right place. Don't bother with that. When you copy the text and save it as a ssc file do not include these lines at the beginning and at the end ======================2013A1.ssc============================= =====================...

Re: New addon in the work

Oh, sorry
Stupid me! The open GL2 was not active.

The addon works as expected, with beautiful colors, and with no impact on the framerate :D

Very nice

Re: Ephemerides 1.0 beta released

Hum! sorry! The coordinates above are the body fixed frame coordinates. For the equatorial coordinates you can use the equatoriaframe() method. See: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Celestia/Celx_Scripting/CELX_Lua_Methods/Celx_object#equatorialframe The simpler way to get the equatorial coordina...

Hi, Where is the new version :?: It would be fine if you update it in the first post of this thread 8) if someone knows how to retrive the position axis (equatorial) from CELX/LUA method win a virtual beer, I am not sure if I understand exactly the question, but it seems that it is not a specific CE...

Hi, Jo?l has corrected all bugs in my fault code I fear it is not true  I you click the button when a DSO is selected, it crashes ! It is possible to make it work for DSO too, but I think it is not relevant. I propose a fix to prevent making measures on galaxies, globulars and so on... distanc...

Re: How to get a list of stars around some target?

Hi,

Have a look here
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Celestia/C ... stia#stars

In the given example stars are selected by spectral type but you can choose the distance from a target or any creterion you want.

Re: Navigation tools - NEW: TRUE 3D cockpits

.
As announced in the last post, the English documentation is now available.

The original English manual is also provided if you want to help for the translation.
By the way there is also a little update to do with the locale_cockpits_xx.lua in the locale directory.

Re: Navigation tools - NEW: TRUE 3D cockpits

Hi, Thank you for the Russian translation of the manual. :) It is now on-line in the forum. I made some improvements to the 3D version (which is now 3D-1) The improvements concern mainly the 3D cockpits. It is now possible to move relative to the cockpit as it is moving. This is especially useful wh...

Re: Navigation tools - NEW: TRUE 3D cockpits

3D cockpits usage You can use a 3D cockpit as any other simple cockpit. If fact you can use the model alone, without any plug-in at all. It is not the cockpits pluging that allows the model to follow the pilot but the scripted orbit. However, the navigation tool offers additional options. By defau...

installation of a 3D cockpit For an explanation of what is a 3D cockpit, see the previous post. I can't provide ready for use cockpits as I did for multiview 2D cockpits. In fact they are part of addons that are not mine. You need to download the corresponding addons yourself. For the moment I att...

Re: Navigation tools - NEW: TRUE 3D cockpits

I thought the last version was the final version, but some time ago, Fungun gave me a 3D model to make a new multipanel cockpit. This model is beautiful and it was a shame to reduce it to some flat images. That is why I looked for a way to use it as a true 3D cockpit. I have read the discussion betw...
