Re: What would be needed to go to a full 1.5.0 release?

[Thanks, Hank. Tracking these in the forum is painful. In any case, I've roughly categorized these bugs into new bugs, existing bugs, feature requests, and not bugs. New bugs have the highest priority, followed by existing bugs, then feature requests. From here on, I want to track these bugs elsewh...

Re: Sorry, but a quick request...

Could one of you fine people PLEASE e-mail me with the stock Celestia rings of Uranus attached? Pretty please? I'd hate like hell to have to re-install Celestia just to get a copy of these rings. I'd be thankful. (Of course, THAT and 2 glasses of beer won't get you drunk.) My current e-mail ...

Re: Celestia management proposal : TRAC and SVN

The big question that I have is how this integrates with SourceForge? Am I mistaken or would using Trac require moving from SourceForge? Looks like currently you cannot use Trac with a remote subversion repository. Also, SourceForge restricts the use of hook scripts, which could be a problem for Tr...

Re: Celestia management proposal : TRAC and SVN

And speaking of branches . . . It would be a *very* good thing to have a stable branch and a new feature development branch (or possibly a branch for each major new feature.) It's great to be able to use source control while developing a new feature without destabilizing the release branch. And whe...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

I understand that it would be best that ALL the developers with proven (not claimed) coding knowledge would rather work jointly at this time to complete the tasks still missing for 1.5.0 final! AS FAST AS POSSIBLE... We have a small but knowledgable group of proper developers AND beta testers that ...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

could you please explain, why you have now added plenty of real coding tasks to that particular Wiki, although NOONE of your volunteers list is able to code properly and all but Cham lack astrophysical expertise?? I'm experimenting with a simple wiki scheme for coordinating development activities. ...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

Hank, I'm sorry but if you wanted it THAT focused, there are simple solutions: - You write it clearly when opening the thread (see this thread , and despite I was in the community for only 2 months, no one break the rule) - You ask the mod for special attention on your thread in case of (note that ...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

I'm not involved in Celestia development, but I can advice you the use of subversion + trac : it's done for your situation. It's way more usefull than a wiki or a forum board... Each ticket has a dead line... It's probably not time to migrate, but this should be a solution for the future. Mathieu (...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

For example, when items on the road map are completed I want to somehow cross them out so you can instantly tell what's done and what's not. As an experiment I've created a Tasks page where each item is a link to a Task Page for the specific Task. The links are grouped by status: PENDING, IN WORK, ...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

Thanks - I didn't realize there already was a wiki. Somewhere in the mass of posts about smilies I must have missed the announcement. Sorry, it hasn't been announced yet. I just set it up for experimental use. I marked a couple of items on the roadmap as "done". BTW, I want to be able to grey out i...

Re: Celestia development volunteers?

Speaking of the roadmap, it ought to be one of the first things that get added to the dev wiki. Right now the roadmap as it is on the forum is outdated - pre3 was already released (but cloud shadows are still broken in some cases), script menu is marked for 1.5.1 but is already done, star orbits ca...

This thread perfectly illustrates the problems with trying to use the forum as a medium for shared information.k Hank, I do agree with you here, but what? is that a so BIG problem? Re: Celestia development volunteers?

You don't have to wade through a long thread looking for each of the different comments that people have made. A very important point. I was never asked about my opinion. Certainly I consider the maintaining of another 2 Wikis for our SMALL group of activists a superfluous effort. The purpose of th...
