Re: Can the Gimp open World Wind dds files?

Sorry,

The 0x17 byte should change from 00 to 02.

Re: Can the Gimp open World Wind dds files?

In case anyone cares:

I found that if you use hex edit to edit the dds file and change the 0xA byte from 00 to 08 and the 0x17 byte from 00 to 20, the gimp can open the dds file.

Re: Can the Gimp open World Wind dds files?

Hi Again, Remember that large black box in the screenshots I sent. I was wrong about it being the kde version. It was the windows version. That black space is the pop up that comes onto the screen when you want to grab an image. When I move it around it appears on the photo in a different location. ...

Re: Can the Gimp open World Wind dds files?

Hi Fridger, Yeah I can open normal DXTs with the gimp. I have version 2.2.8 with a recent dds plugin. Cant open World Wind dxts though. I did find a thumb viewer so at least I can see what I doing. I also tried nvdxt to open them but that fails too. The reader converts them to a tga. Then nvdxt conv...

Can the Gimp open World Wind dds files?

cartrite here, I was trying to import some textures from World Wind into my VT Earth folders to add some close ups of areas of interest. And ran into a brick wall. I can't find a way to edit them. Enhance colors and such. I'm not sure if they will even work in Celestia. Anyone out there know if the ...

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

Just to add to that: Most of any experience I have with computers goes back to the day my country fired the farmer and hired the actor as president. Then after the communications industry meltdown a few years ago I went back to school for a CCNA. I kinda touched on visual studio at that time. While ...

Not worried. Just testing and letting you know what I find. I was gonna post some screenshots but I don't have a web site.

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

Hi Fridger, I managed to get the nebulaes working in ft1 and this is what I found out. When I edited the celestia.rc file in res (resource.h file too) I used WordPad. I should have used emacs. WordPad leaves a lot of ^M chars at the end of every line which produced strange results. I used emacs and ...

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

Yup, I forgot that I installed them manualy. I ran make distclean to a fresh source, added, $(wildcard *.pts) to the line ( pkgdata_DATA = ) in the Makefile.am file in models directory, Then ran make -f Makefile.common (admin dir) make -f Makefile.cvs ./configure ....., compiled it, installed it and...

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

They were included (installed) when I ran make install from gcc 3.3.5-5. I Think, I'm going to recheck that. I may have copied them manually and forgot. Both of these vesions are developement versions according to the gcc home page. Mabey something is wrong with them? I built gcc 4.0 but haven't got...

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

follow up for the post above.

GCC 3.3.4-11 compiled it alright. The make install command failed to install the pts files in the models directory. don't know why. At 1st glance everything else seemed alright now. sorryjavascript:emoticon(':o')

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

Fridger, I ran into another small issue compiling FT1 with linux. With suse 9.3 I compiled with gcc 3.3.5-5 and everything works well as far as I can tell. With suse 9.2 I compiled with gcc 3.3.4-11 and it compiled. When I ran it all the galaxies were gone. no trace at all. The title still appears a...

Re: Accessed CVS, downloaded the source...

selden, I can compile Celestia from CVS too, using the toolkit mentioned above in this forum. I had a problem compiling Celestia 1.3.2, the source code that is under the download link for linux on the Celestia home page. That same code compiled fine with gcc. Thats the Celestia I use while in linux....

Re: Accessed CVS, downloaded the source...

question? is it possible to compile version celestia-1.3.2.tar.gz, downloaded from sourceforge, with the microsoft vc++ toolkit 2003? in celutil the file formatnum.cpp gets a fatal error. in celengine, meshmanager.cpp, render.cpp tokenizer.cpp all get fatal errors. and so on. just wondering? i have ...

Re: What´s the best driver for Celestia?

oh yeah, i also run celestia-kde on suse 9.2 with driver 61.11 and suse 9.3 with driver 71.67. it runs just fine. it's a real pain to update the drivers with linux from nvidia, so i get all my updates from YOU (yast online update). question? on linux, with the cvs version compiled for kde i see all ...

Re: weird

cartrite sounds like you already fixed the problem by formatting the hdd? If so, sorry but in the future, when installing nvidia drivers, the first thing to do is. 1. go to device manager (right click on my computer is one way) and disable your on board card (expand the display section, right click,...

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

Cartrite here I found that msvcrtd.dll file in a vc98 folder on a visual studio 6 installation disk I had and the debug version runs now. I did a make distclean on the source ft1 with cygwin and it compiled alright. Both the release and debug versions. The Ft1 debug version runs too. If you got a co...

Re: New Celestia-1.4.0pre-FT1 (galaxies) for Testing

cartrite again Another question. I can compile the ft1 and cvs versions with debugging but celestia will not run. It wants a file called msvcrtd.dll. It will not run without it (Debug Version). I'm assuming that the ft1 debug version needs it too. One comes with microsoft sdk platform (64 bit) but i...
