Re: Binaries Just "Sit There"

Ok...looks like it was rather dependent on the time speed...had to go to about 500,000,000 x's faster. Classic case of "user error."

Re: Binaries Just "Sit There"

It happens to binaries that are already in the program. Not just what I've added in.

Binaries Just "Sit There"

So I've been able to incorporate my old add-ons, and everything checks out (I think) on some of my binary .stc files. I go in to check how they look/function/etc, and my binary systems are quite motionless. The orbits are shown when you click on each individual star, but not both, and the stars do n...

Re: Need instructions on how to use "The Gimp" to create planets

Here is another one you will find helpful, it's a little time consuming, I have found the results well worth it... https://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=18280&highlight=eriond+tutorial It includes the gradients seen in the tutorial. If you've never used Wilbur, it will DEFINITELY c...

Re: Moving my old add-ons

It's the 1.61 version. Not super proficient with the terminal commands, but I am GREAT at following well-written instructions.
As far as accessing the root, I'm not even sure how to do that. "Open as root" is not an option on my file manager.

Thanks

Moving my old add-ons

First, it's nice to see that someone has picked up the baton and has continued running with Celestia. I haven't done too much with it for a while, rather, just focusing on adulting with odd bits of worldbuilding to pass the time. That said, I recently got Celestia working for my laptop, which is run...

Re: Recovering lost stargen seeds?

IF you didn't alter the .ssc, it's possible that you could have the info in the first few lines...I haven't used the original StarGen for some time, so I can't remember how it displays info for its .ssc's. A bit of a long shot, but maybe??? -M- PS..OK, I just took a peek at it...the prognosis is not...

Re: Recovering lost stargen seeds?

...And I've just stupidly realized that what one system a seed generates in StarGen, the same seed makes a completely different one in any other version...

Maybe I should wait for the coffee to kick in before trying to think...

Re: Recovering lost stargen seeds?

You could try this...if you still have the .html of your system, if you right-click and hit "Open With" and select WordPad, it will open up the guts of the machine, so to speak. Buried within the top few lines, you should find the seed. Example: (this is from one I've been chipping at) <!D...

Re: I'm Back! Well, sort of....

I've dabbled a little on an addon for XI Scorpii...(aka Headacheland,) 12 Ophiuchi, and Gliese 511.1. (Rather random collection.) Part of the inspiration came from the OLD ArcBuilder site, which had a bunch of cool LunarCell pics. I assumed this was you... http://solar-flux.forumandco.com/t746-glies...

Re: I'm Back! Well, sort of....

HOOOORAYY!!!! Welcome back, Bienvenue and Namaste!!!! I wondered where you had gone. (The last thing I remember reading from you is over at Extrasolar Visions II.) I've been trying to make my own ArcBuilders addons, without much success, though. So it is good to have you back.

Re: Ordyss (HIP 56948) system

Very nice! I understand about being a slow worker...I've been working on my PSI Capricorni system for years...quite literally. (Maybe some century I'll release it.) Look forward to seeing the rest of the planets and moons of this system. -M- PS- the gas giant is a knockout! What methods do you use?

You forget tidal heating...and besides, this IS fiction. I rather liked it.

P.E....your work has DEFINATELY come a long way! I deleted a lot of my old textures...I couldn't stand the sight of them. Very nicely done!

Nice shots, especially the second, even if it isn't from Celestia.

Did you make that artistic impression?
