Re: The Sky at Night Appreciation Thread

The latest edition airs tonight at 00:30 British Summer Time on BBC1. A homage to the spaceshuttle, including a special feature on Atlantis' final visit to the ISS will be the main feature on the show. More news on The Sky at Night newsletter which is actually a quarterly publication written by Sir ...

Re: The World Cup Controversy thread (renamed)

Not to mention thanking their own player who incurred the penalty in the first place by handling the ball on the goal-line, thus preventing a sure goal which would have won it for Ghana goal with 30 secs to go.... ....I think that when a cynical handling of the ball on the goal line prevents a goal...

Re: The World Cup Controversy thread (renamed)

Amazing...Africa GO: Ghana leading 1:0 over Uruquay in the break!! No surprise: The entire African continent is crossing fingers ;-) Fridger Good match. It was great to see both teams trying to win the game right up to the end of 90 minutes, and also the end of extra time. But alas, it was not to b...

Re: Where is the favicon?

The favicon is great and some of the avatars are even greater. Seeing Lord Vader using a new instrument of torture makes me wonder if the Empire would have had more success using the vuvuzela instead of the dark side of the force! Hi Fridger, why your pirate baby appared just for one day? Aha...

Re: The World Cup Controversy thread (renamed)

CC, yes I know about this kind of "non-technology" argument. It has been discussed widely. But in my view there's a qualitative difference betwen overlooking a (non-11 meter) foul, say, and mis-judging a goal that might become decisive in a Wold Cup, let alone the effects on the players' ...

Re: The "World Cup Upsets" thread

I suspect they'll be talking about THAT goal for the next 28 years as well! Germany v England 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql0axX3cM50&feature=related GOAL DISALLOWED Germany v England 1966 (Final): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Uhe_l1h3w8&feature=related GOAL AWARDED Spooky! I ha...

Re: The "World Cup Upsets" thread

Germany will prevail. 8) Now that would be a World Cup Upset! Why? Since the beginning of the World Cup (1930), Germany won it 3 times , last in 1990. Moreover it came second 4 times , last in 2002. That's not a bad record, is it? Italy has even 4 wins last one in 2006, and 2 second places . ...

Re: The "World Cup Upsets" thread

You can't mean that Brazil or Chile played well today ... I think the Brazil v Portugal, and Spain v Chile games were very 'cosy' results which suited all 4 teams concerned to progresss to the next round. They were so cosy infact that I have become slightly richer :-) Chile have impressed me in all...

Someone told me that Germany will win against England on Sunday. Is this correct? ;-) You must have been speaking to Franz Beckenbauer  http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8757944.stm While the South Americans have all played well, it's been a different story for the dissap...

Re: The "World Cup Upsets" thread

The forum's downfalls have permits a long and more radical meditation about such score, like you was able to see a tad later... And surely the penalty was a bit robbed... Once returned, the team will be welcomed at the sound of the buh-buh zelas. Ah-ha the forum has returned from it's own upset it ...

Hey i noticed that last nights doctor who confidential showed celestia to explain the vastness of space, kudos to celestia: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00sryf0/Doctor_Who_Confidential_Series_5_Extra_Time/ Brilliant! I don't think I've seen it used on The Sky at Night yet, hopefully they'r...

Re: The Sky at Night Appreciation Thread

I saw that live! I love the Sky at Night. Is that the Apollo 11 mission, or the Giotto encounter, or both bh? I've seen some of the BBC Apollo 11 coverage since - the screengrab of James Burke was taken from a night of programmes dedicated to spaceflight on BBC4. What I remember about the Giotto co...

The Sky at Night Appreciation Thread

I'm a regular viewer of the BBC's longest running TV show, The Sky at Night, which still remains a permanent fixture on the TV schedules, as it has done for the past 53 years. The first show I watched was a live special edition covering Giotto's encounter with Halley in 1986. Shown on a monthly basi...

Re: Extended Cassini Solstice Mission

Yes, a slight adjustment may be required fairly soon, because a planned flyby to within 51 km of Enceladus will actually see Cassini use it's little publicised TBM function on November 30th this year! I'll add news that Grant Hutchison has recently updated the numberedmoons.ssc file, which includes ...

Extended Cassini Solstice Mission

I don't think this has been announced here at the forum, and believe it deserves to be. Seem as I'm a big fan of the Cassini mission  Chris has added the Solstice mission to extras-standard at http://celestia.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/celestia/trunk/celestia/ which covers the extended part...

Not too much wrong by the looks of it. Maybe it's best to try going back to Callisto again. Move the curser over Callisto and use right click button on the mouse which should bring up a menu as shown in the screenshot. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/663/callistohelpv.jpg Move down the list of me...
