Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

After taking a few days' break, I resumed trial and error with stargen 2014, and I've noticed that perfectly legitimate option selections, when generating systems from internal star databases, stargen way too often runs into problems; likely from a typo in a spectral type; but oddly, i take out one ...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

I finally got it to work after putting the temps AFTER the spectral type, rather than before; I'm a bit brain-dead myself, as I tend to do my commands in the same order as what the -help option shows. I don't know why it would make a difference what order they are in... I tested to see if that's an...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Not to be picky, but I've noticed a few issues remain and had edited into my previous post, before the latest update was made available: (EDIT: Not to mention what order. I finally got it to work after putting the temps AFTER the spectral type, rather than before; I'm a bit brain-dead myself, ...

Sadly no, deleted entirely, because of intellectual snobbery and overreaction to some of the trolls here.

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

I think it might be time to update that readme. :P I do believe a detailed, in-depth explanation as to what works, what doesn't, what combos are good, which combos are bad, etc. might be a good idea. :) (EDIT: Not to mention what order. I finally got it to work after putting the temps AFTER th...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Still having issues... I'm beginning to wonder If maybe I'm forgetting some things myself? On top of that, I have noticed numerous typos, including "Unsupported" being mispelled as "Unsported", as well as multiple options having the same letter and capitalization; so here's 2 scr...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

That's the problem. It should be -BG3V. Its case sensitive. I'll try to find a way to make it case insensitive while I'm fixing the decimal problem. Hmm. Doing -BG3V also results in errors, but instead of "unsupported star type: ", it generates a new stackdump instead. Leaving out the tem...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Still having issues, every combination of options I can think of for single custom systems (with the -m and -y options) result in the "unsupported star type message." And attempting a custom spectral type results in stack dump errors when uppercase, and the unsupported star type error mes...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

I'm getting the error message: "The procedure entry point strtold could not be located in the dynamic link library cygwin1.dll" from the windows binaries. Is there something I forgot?

Hiding individual orbits

Is there any to hide the orbit of a single object, without hiding the object itself? I tried "visible false" in the ssc file, but it just made the entire object invisible, rather than hiding just the orbit line.

This is with Celestia 1.6.1

Re: PlutonianEmpire's Circumbinary Reporting Thread

I actually saw that. :D Pretty cool, indeed; but yeah, would've been nice to see the source code, not to mention the site is online only, which is a bit of a bummer. On the plus side, it revealed that a high mass system I made In stargen had a second Jovian in the habitable zone in addition to one t...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

I dunno if it was changed in the new 2014 version, but my biggest issue was with the -J option, which forced jovians to be in the habitable zone. My issue with that was, the "jovians" weren't jovians at all -- they ALL were ONLY upper-level super-earths and mini-neptunes. I NEVER got anyth...

Re: Universe Sandbox

This was the only DL-only software I ever sent money for my whole life. It's not too bad of a program; I like to use it to see if a sci-fi setup I have in mind is gravitationally stable over the long term. Other times, I just blow up the Earth whenever news from around the world or from my location ...

Re: Custom Science-Fiction Pictures from Celestia

Forum's back, so now it's back to work posting outrageous science fantasy and irritating hard-sci-fi fans!  I was exploring some "ancient" systems that I've had with me for nearly all of my nine, ten years with Celestia, and found this little gem; a blue Jovian with two habi...

Perhaps an interesting hypothetical?

Let's say aliens arrived and immediately promoted us to a Type III Civilization. Once the chaos of being suddenly Monolith'ed calms down, someone realizes Earth is indeed almost directly on the inner edge of Sol's habitable zone, with the inner edge being 0.99 AU, as recent RL research suggests. So,...

That looks like rthorvald's Sun addon. I hope they asked him first, if that is indeed his.
