Re: What would Celestia look like if it had cloud shadows!

Hi Don, welcome back!
I'd like to see your shadowing clouds so, please, make those available somewhere.
Thanks a lot.

Re: A Model of Saturn’s Rings

Re: Parallax uncertainty presentation

I have already been looking at the ability to change orbit colors anyway, this will make a nice addition. Hi Janus. Actually orbit colors change can be done in .cel scripts with a command line like this setlinecolor { item " planetorbits " color [0.43 0.04 0.04] and something similar work...

Re: Parallax uncertainty presentation

If this can help someone, I have the fading orbits release, and I attach here the zipped .exe file.
It was released years ago by Guillelmo Abramson.
I don't remember if there were other files to be added to the 1.6.1 standard release, so ieventually ask me for them.

Re: NightLight: 64k VT earth night texture

Hi nardo. In my life I travelled by air for almost one million miles, so I had the possibility to see a lot of times lighted nightscapes. I can say for sure that, if there are no clouds and no haze, fog or whatelse between your aircraft and the ground, what you can see is absolutely closer to the ri...

Re: NightLight: 64k VT earth night texture

Hi nardo.
Could you please upload a single level6 2K image of a well know place, e.g. a big city, in order to evaluate the correspondence with space taken images?
At a first glance, images look a bit blurry and excessively dim, in my opinion.
Thank you.

Re: Sprites Nebulae for M31 (Andromeda's galaxy)

Hi. When I susbstituted my 750 GB HD (7200 rpm) with a 250 GB SSD, I saw a new world. Expecially with very heavy addons (e.g. Linuxman's ISS) the loading speed now is a bullet shot! In Italy a quality 250 GB SSD can be found at 80 Euros, same price of a 2TB 7200 rpm HD, but despite the 8 fold price/...

Re: Curiosity on Mars

Moreover I found here http://gizmodo.com/curiositys-wheels-are-falling-apart-and-how-we-can-sol-1626826935 this comparison image taken at sol 708 (now we are at sol 1434, so surely things are worst now than here!), showing the six wheels all-around, with the many damages occurred up to then. http://...

Re: Curiosity on Mars

Let me go on: here the upper ones: 6-Cham's-UP.jpg 7-Dirtyer-UP.jpg The side view of the wheels: 8-Wheels-1.jpg and the oblique view. 9-Wheels-2.jpg This is a view of the "real" wheels on Mars, but obviously their appearance changes as soil changes. 10-Real wheels on Mars.jpg I think that ...

Re: Curiosity on Mars

I tried to follow Fenerit's suggestions with CMODview, but the only thing I obtained was a dull black terrain. This gives me the final confirm that between me and 3d modelling there is an invalicable canyon. :zombie: Given this, I tried something else. Searching Curiosity "selfies" I found...

You told it, not I!
Anyway, if John is tuned.... I absolutely agree.
Please!
Goofy

PS: BTW, NASA's 3X heights enhancement in this model is a bit too much, I would prefer a 2X, no more.
My opinion, obviously.

Re: Curiosity on Mars

Hi. In the search of a better "environment" for the wonderful Cham's Curiosity model, I found here http://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/detail/gale-crater an intersting model of the Gale crater. :smoke: But (there is always a "but"!) it's in .stl file, that's used for 3D models printers. I...

Well, I can use one word only: astonishing! It looks like the real things, so thanks a lot, Cham, you made a wonderful job. Now finally I can show to my students this wonder on the red planet. Final.JPG Just one thing is missing, anyway, but it's not Cham's fault ... the model shadows. ...
