Re: Questions on some settings in the "solarsys.ssc" f

Why "on earth" would you want to uncomment it? We use such a high amount of precision for all planet orbits. Why would you want to vast it?? Bye Fridger Ups sorry Fridger but I met oblateness uncomment (for earth) in the freshly extracted package of Celestia... So there is no problem with textures ...

OPINION... OPINION... OPINION...

Hi, everybody (another time sorry for my bad english...) After some weeks of use, after downloading a ton of maps and add-ons, after some questions in the forum, I?€™d like to give my humble opinion. What I have understood is that there is a hard core of people working on the simulation, some ?€?ota...

A post for Hank or Dirkpitt

Hi, You are both working in the osX port of Celestia isn't it? So, as a newbie, non programer, a few questions: - Are there some kinds of priorities in the port? (which ones?) - Is there is a big difference between the linux version and the osX one? (osX is based on unix...) - At is 100% the port wi...

Ok guys, sorry, I know I am just a newbie, trying to solve some of my problems by reading the more I can, but are 3 pages really necessary to "solve" this kind of "problems"?? I would like to say: THE END as the bad guy: "TERRORBYTE" with the actuation of: (in alphabetic order) Bob Hegwood Cham Chri...

Another NormalMap question

Hi, I need a confirmation. I have tested a normalmap from motherlode (8k) and the result is not so good... Seems that I get more details with a classic bumpmap... Is it possible or one more time is my MX fault? By the way someone knows a way to create normalmaps on osX ? (the NVIDIA plugin for photo...

Re: Some bugs on osX version

Tx dirkpitt for these info.

While I'm here, here is a minor bug:
(The fact is I'm sure that I'm the only one to have done such thing but...)
putting something out of the { } in a ssc file block the laoding of celestia.

Really not important...

Re: Questions on some settings in the "solarsys.ssc" f

Tx Fridger,

So for earth, is this setting change something in the visual (0,0034 quite a small value isn't it??) or better let it uncomment?

Is the setting influe the calculation time for maps?

Questions on some settings in the "solarsys.ssc" f

Hi, I have noticed that some members use different settings in the "solarsys.ssc" file in the earth section: ************************ SpecularTexture "earth-spec.*" Color [ 0.35 0.35 0.5 ] SpecularColor [ 0.3 0.3 0.35 ] SpecularPower 15.0 HazeColor [ 1 1 1 ] HazeDensity 0.3 Radius 6378.140 # equator...

Re: Some bugs on osX version

I'm not sure what those sawtooth-shaped artifacts are. Perhaps some PC or Linux users with 4MX's would like to chime in... I'd hazard a guess that you're hitting an internal limit or bug during vertex program execution. Can you choose the NV C/VP render path? What about DOT3+ARB VP? Hi, (sorry I wa...

Jupiter animated map

Hello, everybody Here is an artistic point of view (this IS NOT a scientific approach?€¦). Ok, after viewing different photos of Jupiter, I have deduced that all the surface is in constant move, so with a cloudmap, I?€™ve tried to reproduce a part of the effect?€¦ Here it is, pretty simple to do and...
