Re: Weird thing

Well by the time the moon gets that far away, earth will be as hot as hell and the sun will probably have melted the moon anyway. Its not like we are going to around to see it. Hopefully by then we as a speices will have our act together and be a long way off in a safe new star systems. If not we ce...

Re: Heres My LunarCell First Atempt!

Ok so its no longer my first LunarCell post but I did start the topic so I will keep adding here till a better topic opens. So now I am going to post a little wonder I put together with of course LunarCell. This colage has a sort of theme. Its the same little planet/moon I posted pictures of earlier...

Re: Swap High res. earth for Low Res.

Well I see what part of your problem is. The Rage 128 Isn't going to be very fast at OpenGL rendering like this. Its an ok chip for a starter system but not for trying to crunch big textures like you want to do. The TNT2 Vanta is a major bottle-neck in itself. Number one its a nutered TNT2 chipset w...

Re: Animated textures

If Chris could implement the usage of animated gifs we could no our way. But I don't think the Celestia engine knows how to wqrk with them.

Re: binary objects

Ah yah!
Pluto and Charon are considered binaries. They orbit around there center of gravity.
Also the Earth and the Moon are considered a double planet system because of the moons size in comparison to its parent.

Re: Heres My LunarCell First Atempt!

Hey Rass,
I don't know how many times I have tried to change my name but it won't take. So I thought I would create a new self so to speak. I did think of using an old handle I have ( Impulseman ) but I would have to explain the thing of were I got it from.

Re: Weird thing

Because the moon isn't going to hit the earth. Earth's gravity well also known as the rouche limit will crush the moon. Earth will get a nice ring instead of a moon as the rubble smooths out in orbit. Besides something the size of the moon hitting the earth would cause severe damage to the planet. P...

Re: Swap High res. earth for Low Res.

The other thing is your not telling us how big a texture your trying to use.
How about telling us how much video ram you have. You may have to turn on texture compession as well. Check out the Help for beginer section of this topic for the needed entry into your .ssc file.

Re: Help for a beginner ...

The other thing that needs to be set if you happen not to be using a dds file is texture compresion. Your .ssc should have a line added to it. "Earth" "Sol" { Texture "earth.png" # Texture "earth8k.dds" NightTexture "landoceanicelights.JPG" CompressTexture true Color [ 0.85 0.85 1.0 ] SpecularColor ...

Re: Heres My LunarCell First Atempt!

The dots are not city lights. They were turned off. They must be flotsome from the capture of the image. I have seen it crop up from time to time in the new relases of Celestia when I do a screencap. It also could be something to do with the driver version I am using. I seem to one of only a few use...
