Re: Stars don't show after 10s of millions of light years

I think by "rebuild" he means take all the source code and recompile it into the full program, though I know not how to do this either...

I suggest you wait for Selden to respond...he will know.

Re: Project "Celestia Origin"

Thank you for the info. Could you ask one of them to make a texture that would be best suited for the "Diamond Plant"? I made an addon for PSR J1719-1438 and its planet (known as the "Diamond Planet"), and my texture for the planet is in need of replacement. You can see the addon...

Yeah, but I know not of a better way to paint a whole hemisphere. If only I knew exactly what John used when he painted the unseen hemisphere on that Triton map.

Re: Painting Fictional Data in Unexplored Regions of Textures

Now these are the kind of instructions I was looking for! Thank you very much! It worked for me, though I had to do a few things differently since the empty area was the south pole. And also, in your instructions you basically stated that I needed to make the texture a square...is this right? I didn...

Re: Painting Fictional Data in Unexplored Regions of Textures

Why is it that when I ask for more detailed instructions, I am simply ignored? This has happened to me before, and I don't like it very much. Please someone help me, for I need these instructions soon. :help:

Re: Painting Fictional Data in Unexplored Regions of Textures

Thank you for the help, but I'm afraid I don't understand your GIMP instructions. You told me what do, but not how to do it. Could you restate your instructions, only now telling me what tools to use, how to access those tools, and what settings to use for those tools?

Painting Fictional Data in Unexplored Regions of Textures

Hello, I have a texture that has a large area that is empty due to lack of data. Are there any simple ways of painting fictional data into these blank areas? I did find a tool called "Inpaint" that seems to be what I'm looking for, though when I used it, it didn't keep the sort of "sw...

Re: Gravitational waves from NGC 4993

There are plenty of converters on the internet.

Look at this one: https://www.swift.psu.edu/secure/toop/convert.htm

Re: Project "Celestia Origin"

Added "restored" 4K standard textures according to the Sudarsky's gas giant classification. Well...now I wish I had those textures! I will be anxiously awaiting the release of the new version of this addon. If you turn your normals into bump, Greg will try to improve. Does this mea...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin"

By the way, I'm talking about the Rhea model. I can't quite see in these images, but did you do something about the "no data" area at the top of the model, as well as the smaller "no data" area at the bottom of the model?? Also..could you put this model, as well as the texture yo...

Re: Convert CMOD Files to OBJ?

Thank you very much. I found that same program, but was unable to use it to its full potential. On exporting, the program ruins the model by deleting every 5th polygon, which fills it with holes, all because I don't have a registrated version of the program, which costs $50 (which is a lot). To get ...

Convert CMOD Files to OBJ?

Hello,

I need to convert a CMOD file to .obj format, but haven't been able to find a way to do so. I have seen many converters that can convert to CMOD, but there are very few options when it comes to converting from CMOD. Does anybody know of a way to do this?

Re: Iapetus cmod

Also, if you release the model in obj format, could it be non-UV-mapped? I would rather do the UV mapping myself.

Re: Project "Celestia Origin"

Check out this link: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Ariel_(moon)
Here you can find both grayscale and color images of Ariel. The color images of Ariel have "color" in their name (with the exception of one). The grayscale images do not.

I downloaded them from FarGetaNik's deviantart, but I think the originals were made by Snowfall-The-Cat.

Re: Project "Celestia Origin"

Here are the maps: NewUranianMoonTexturesCM1215.zip Note: I disabled LunarLambert on all of the moons apart from Umbriel. The images of a gray Ariel are grayscale. Ariel, in reality, has a reddish-brown color. In each of those comparison images above, there is a Celestia image (left) and a Voyager 2...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin"

Since it appears that the colors are the only thing you don't like about those Uranian moon textures, I've decided to re-colorize those textures to more correctly match the voyager images. Here are some screenshots: Miranda (The Miranda texture seems to be a bit too smooth): MirandaComparison.png Ar...

Re: Iapetus cmod

John, can you post this model in .obj format so that I can have my try at correctly orienting the texture?
