Re: newbie VT question

Also...I just tried the VT and it doesn't want to render. Mercury appears as a white sphere with nothing but the normal map that I am using. Perhaps 92k is too unusual a dimension to work properly.

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2018

I have a problem to report. Your orbit for the Spektr-R spacecraft goes through the planet Earth instead of around it.
OrbitThroughEarth.jpg

Can you post new orbital parameters in order to fix this?

Re: newbie VT question

Well...the re-composition process did spam errors at me the whole way through, but it appeared the process was still going on, so I ignored the errors. Another possibility, due to the high-contrast nature of the 92k texture the color is quite difficult to see...

Re: newbie VT question

After a long time and a ton of computer lag, I managed to colorize the 92k texture with the colors of your colorized texture. It honestly doesn't look very different from the original, but it DOES have the color. Here is the download link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1N6HhZu2ResYyd9QlGjY7vMYuiO...

Re: newbie VT question

I'm afraid that to use the method I mentioned above, I will need the entire texture as one file, so that I can apply the colorization to the entire texture at once. I have downloaded the grayscale VT that you put up for download, so you should be able to delete it off your drive now. I will need the...

Re: newbie VT question

Actually, I may be able to process the 64k texture as a whole and apply the colors of that there reference image to the 64k texture using the same method you explained to me concerning the false-color Charon map. My computer is quite powerful, so it should be able to handle it. If that's what you're...

Re: newbie VT question

In that case, do you need the whole textures or just the VT tiles? I would imagine it'll be easier to work with the whole texture. I can use a template of the whole texture to figure out what colorization edits I will need (this template should be lower resolution than the original), then I can use...

Re: newbie VT question

I'd been wondering if there was an available Mercury VT larger than 32k...and apparently there is. Could you put the grayscale 64k VT up for download? Because I may be able to use the BIMP plugin for GIMP to colorize it.

14k Triton Map V4.3

Here is version 4.3 of my complete Triton texture map. It includes most of the blurred areas replaced with fictitious terrain and a fictitious northern hemisphere. Two versions are included; a true colors version and a Voyager colors version. Other than the colorization, the two maps are identical. ...

Re: Celestia 2018

Something I want to make sure that you understand... Celestia Origin is very similar to what you are attempting to work on, except Celestia Origin involves the modifications being spread out, with some being in the extras, and others being directly implemented into the solarsys.ssc file and other co...

Re: minor problem with mouse

Hello Rufus,

If you are using a mac, then you may need to go to your mouse settings, for the problem you are describing here is not a problem with Celestia. Macs, if I remember correctly, normally have right click disabled, and so you may need to enable it.

Re: Help converting a model to CMOD format

Perhaps what you should do is open the OBJ file in cmodview, as it has that capability. The 3ds files have limitations that make them bad ideas for celestial bodies. Perhaps what happened was that those limitations ruined the model when you converted it to a 3ds file.

Re: Fading a model

Hi, #1: SSC/DSC files are NOT models. Models files are most times CMOD files. #2: You are able to edit the opacity of CMOD models with a CMOD model editor program called "cmodview". It can be found here: ./viewtopic.php?f=25&t=17655 Just open the model file in cmodview, click the model...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated December 30, 2017

The Triton texture is «too green» and thus unrealistic. No pictures of Triton show a green surface. Yeah, I originally thought the same as well, until Art Blos told me otherwise. However, if you prefer the Voyager colors, I have made a recolorized variant of that same texture that more closely matc...

Re: Celestia "FixedPostion" Coordinate System Help

Your addon is good, but I have a question: What orientation parameters did you use for the Tempel 1 mesh? Also, did you pre-orient the model in Anim8or before you converted it? And a suggestion: Would it be possible to add impact ejections from the comet's surface like are seen in the impact images?

Alright then. Here is the addon:

I had already tried to experiment with the coordinates, but the explosion/debris never appear right were I want them to appear, which is right where the impactor crashes into Tempel 1.
