Re: Fading a model

Hi, #1: SSC/DSC files are NOT models. Models files are most times CMOD files. #2: You are able to edit the opacity of CMOD models with a CMOD model editor program called "cmodview". It can be found here: ./viewtopic.php?f=25&t=17655 Just open the model file in cmodview, click the model...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated December 30, 2017

The Triton texture is «too green» and thus unrealistic. No pictures of Triton show a green surface. Yeah, I originally thought the same as well, until Art Blos told me otherwise. However, if you prefer the Voyager colors, I have made a recolorized variant of that same texture that more closely matc...

Re: Celestia "FixedPostion" Coordinate System Help

Your addon is good, but I have a question: What orientation parameters did you use for the Tempel 1 mesh? Also, did you pre-orient the model in Anim8or before you converted it? And a suggestion: Would it be possible to add impact ejections from the comet's surface like are seen in the impact images?

Do you know where I can get it?

Alright then. Here is the addon:

I had already tried to experiment with the coordinates, but the explosion/debris never appear right were I want them to appear, which is right where the impactor crashes into Tempel 1.

Celestia "FixedPostion" Coordinate System Help

Hello, I am trying to modify Jestr's old Deep Impact addon to work with the new Tempel 1 mesh that is currently available, but I can't get the explosion/debris to appear where I want it. I need to know more about how to use the "FixedPosition" entry to place the explosion/debris right wher...

Re: Normal Map for Triton?

Ah yes, I do remember seeing that normal map...

I was looking for a normal map that would have the same 14k resolution as the highest resolution Triton texture available, though that may be asking too much.

I guess we'll simply have to wait until a new space probe is sent to the Neptunian system...

Normal Map for Triton?

Hello, Ever since I learned how to apply normal maps to CMOD models, I've gone crazy about them, trying to use them as much as possible. Here is Ceres for an example: CeresNew.PNG Now, I wish to find a normal map for Neptune's moon Triton, but do not know where to get one, if one exists, that is... ...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated December 30, 2017

Celestia Origin is an excellent addon collection! I have already integrated its asteroid and comet catalogues into my Celestia installation. I have not seen your star catalogue yet, but does it include the star Kepler-70 and its two exoplanets? If not, I have an addon for the system that I'm willing...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated December 30, 2017

I'll tell you how: 1. Open Celestia. 2. Find the Lua Edu Tools bar on the right side of the screen. If it doesn't appear, then press SHIFT + I (I mean simply press and hold the Shift key and press the I key). 3. Find the button that says "Set Addon Visibility" and click it. 4. Scroll down ...

You have to enable the dying solar system in the addons list in Lua Edu Tools.

Thank you, but, not being the coding genious that you are, I cannot make out what you are trying to say...

Perhaps what I am trying to ask is this: are they necessary, or is simply downloading the zip file all I need to do to get all of Celestia Origin?

I remember seeing that the whole of the release is around 4.3G in size...Whatever happened to the extra gigabyte of stuff? Also, what do you do with these so-called par2 files once you have them?

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated December 30, 2017

Awesome! Now I just have to wait for Janus to release it outside the torrent file.

Celestia Origin has some neat addons indeed. It is very up to date, and I would love to add as many as possible, though it would be tedious to add them all to my already heavily modified Celestia installation.

Hey! This give me the envy of returning to Celestia modeling! :eh: Well why don't you? It would be awesome to have you! The model looks cool, but the texture you are using makes it look...fictitious. Here is a view of the model used in Celestia with a more realistic texture: PanNewInfo.PN...

LukeCEL, your models actually don't look too bad. Though I will probably end up waiting for Art Blos' improved version...I'm guessing they'll come out in the December 30th release.

More Detail for Minor Moons

I've taken a look at the minor moons in Celestia and have recognized that most of them need improvement, especially the minor moons of Saturn, which have been photographed in detail already. I am looking for methods to add detail to the minor moons to make them look more photo-realistic. Does anyone...
