Re: Selected Object text off-screen

I also noticed this bug on my Windows 7 laptop. Newer Celestia builds fixed the problem (i.e. the bug is already fixed in current development builds).

Re: Celestia stops working after a few minutes

I've had problems with running Celestia in the past, then it was my computer power supply that couldn't handle the graphic card load.

Re: Changing textures over (real) time...

Perhaps the timeline function could be implemented for recurring events like months, so you can switch textures according to this. This way you could also create seasonal effects on mars, if the textures of Mars' seasons would be available. And diskspace shouldn't be any problem today anymore, since...

Re: cmodview: 3D mesh file utility for Celestia

Wildcard extensions (e.g. marsmap.*) for texture maps aren't supported yet. BTW This doesn't affect the choosing of textures, anyhow; even for model already set with wildcard. The cmodviewer show just the model all black but it allow the change of texturing. (drop combo boxes) That's also what I no...

Re: Hayabusa Project Science Data Archive

Sorry for kicking this old thread, but I stumbled upon an Itokawa map, but I do not recall where it came from. http://members.home.nl/astronomievandaag/itokawa_cylmap_thumb.jpg Download here I tried using this as a map for the cmod model but this doesn't seem to work, even though Celestia says it ha...

Re: Displaying orbits

I've been experimenting with orbits of spacecraft, for example, Cassini. For each spice kernel, I entered the orbital period in days. Celestia now always wants to close the orbit, while displaying just the part the kernel covers would be nicer. Any chance this can be improved (or use a switch or som...

OrbitColors for ReferencePoints

I use spice kernels for all planets, and recently I finally found out how to show the orbits of the barycenters.
Is it possible to alter the orbit colors of these reference points as well?
I tried it, but it doesn't work.
It does work for the moon, for example.

Re: Planet orbit not shown if planet has spice orbit

Well I finally fixed this. Sort of.
By adding two lines to the reference point of the .ssc orbits are now shown:

[code]
Visible true
Clickable false
[code]

Orbits only have the name of the bary center, not the name of the planet.

Re: Planet orbit not shown if planet has spice orbit

I used one of the spice tools to extract venus' data into a separate kernel. I may have merged it together with some other kernels to extend the time the kernel spans. I did this about two years ago, so I don't remember the exact details, but I'm sure de421 (or some previous version) was the basis f...

Re: Planet orbit not shown if planet has spice orbit

Sorry for kicking this old thread of mine, but I was cleaning my installations (I had several for testing purposes ;)). I really think it's strange that planet orbits are not drawn when using spice kernels. My whole solar system is based on spice kernels. Today I found out that the orbit of dwarf pl...

Re: Displaying orbits

I'd like to mention that even in build 4936 planetary orbits are not drawn at all, if the orbit is a spice orbit.
Orbits of moons with spice orbits are drawn correctly.
