Didn't you updated it these days?

Re: Completely REVISED Uranus Tour

I just want to let you know, that the Uranus script looks great when I reduce ambient light AFTER the script has started. So I removed the line in your script that sets it to 0.50. I can see all features without ambient using your latest script version. Good point hjw... Please feel free to modify ...

Re: arange a celestial body...

rifl, My computer's acting *really* strange of late, but the following code is what you want, I think... Play around with the "xrot" value until you see the Sun revolving around Mercury while you're orbiting it. I had this working fine, but I'm afraid that my computer is just about to die now, so I ...

as I noted above already in my answer to Joe: I shall just give in . That costs me much less work, after all... There you go... Now you're doing yourself a favor. You don't want to go killing yourself over something that most people are going to have different expectations about anyway. LOVE ...

Re: Space Age Large Scale Industry

Picture space tourism as a stage in the development of the entire space industry. Scytale? Just thought I'd mention that Burt Rutan and his winning of the X-Prize with "SpaceShipOne" has already started the drive toward space tourism. I believe that his company, Scaled Composites, LLC. has already ...

Re: Bad addon at the Motherlode

Another two-cents worth from the Peanut Gallery... I personally would much rather have access to a low-quality, but highly realistic texture, as opposed to a high-quality un -realistic texture. I don't really care about such things as the size of the texture, because I can't use anything over 2k on ...

Re: Virtual Textures For Dummies!

Okay, Sorry, but the Virtual Textures for Dummies Guide definitely needs to be updated and revised. Cygwin, Netpbm, Fridger's virtualtex script, and the ImageMagick software have all changed since I wrote the Guide. Will see if I can create a better tutorial for VT's as soon as I can get the time. Re: Bad addon at the Motherlode

Joe, I still very much like the Comments/Rating ability to handle these issues. If people would simply USE these resources to post their comments about an add-on, then most of the other problems ought to repair themselves shouldn't they? I mean, if someone posts a comment telling people that one of ...

Cham, Just one other thought for you... Harry has gone to an awful lot of trouble to add the capability for Motherlode Users to be able to add comments and rate an add-on. Have you used this capability? Would be of service to other users there if your comments were published on the Motherlode too. T...

Re: Bad addon at the Motherlode

There should be a realistic addon police. Like in real science, an independant team should verify the validity of any new realistic addon, before making it available to the general public. This is in the interest of Celestia's credibility. Pardon Cham, but perhaps you could volunteer for this servi...

Absolutely beautiful... Especially compared to the old site. What an extremely talented group of people exist on this forum. I'm constantly surprised and amazed as Celestia (and its friends' add-ons) continue to evolve. Thanks very much for the improvements Runar. Take care, Bob

Re: Before Big Bang

Now some factless speculation: What if the Big Bang is actually the point where a five-dimensional hypersphere first touches a four-dimensional space (the fourth dimension being time) when crossing it, the fourth-dimensional intersection of the two bodies involved becoming the space-time of our uni...

Re: Need License advice

You need to have a look at the 'Other contributors' section of the Readme file to trace the copyright owner of the texture you want to use. The GPL under which Celestia is licenced obvioulsy doesn't put any restriction on what you can do with images produced by the software. Okay, then I have anoth...

We are almost in March.Where is the 1.4.0 pre 7? Re: Need License advice

Don't know about the exact legal ramifications of the open-source license for Celestia, but I think that you'll find that almost everyone who has contributed to Celestia (Be it in the form of an add-on, texture, SSC file, etc) has clearly stated that their work is NOT for use in any for profit activ...

If there's any 'scientist' who thinks that, they don't have any right to call themselves scientists. There is no way that we know everything there is to know about the universe at this stage. I understand that, but even Einstein was considered a radical non-standard scientist when his proposals wer...
