Re: How to draw a line between planets or moons

Not that I know of, but you could possibly use a mesh if the moon's orbit isn't too eccentric.

Re: Why isn't my normal map working?

I don't really know if it's possible to reproject the textures into a cube map. Sculptris generates .obj files, and I've tried both Selden's Anim8or CMOD export script and cmodview with the same results. To me, it looks like Celestia isn't loading the normal map correctly because of how it's mapped ...

Re: Why isn't my normal map working?

I generated normals and tangents in cmodview, and I was able to get this.

As you can see, it has these seams everywhere. Not sure what I can do to fix this besides maybe subdivide the original mesh some more.

Re: Why isn't my normal map working?

I'm not using a cylindrical (or cube) map. Sculptris generates UVs, diffuse textures , and normal maps . I applied the normal map to a sphere (please excuse the lack of polar correction): http://i.imgur.com/kM71rAb.jpg It looks like the normal map's OK, so the problem must be in my CMOD. (download)

Why isn't my normal map working?

I used Sculptris to make an asteroid model and textures (diffuse, normal) and used Anim8or to set materials and export to CMOD. When rendered in Celestia, however, it looks completely different. I've tried it with LunarLambert both at 1 and turned off, and no matter what it looks completely differen...

One more planet. After this I'll start doing moons.

Re: Ordyss (HIP 56948) system

Almost forgot about this project. For these next two I've been using Filter Forge for some of the distortion effects. http://i.imgur.com/sC3THlK.jpg Melainna. I've been trying to tone down the cloud shadows, but it's apparently either this or no shadows at all. http://i.imgur.com/ibhrtN6.jpg Nyrreo.

Re: I don't know how to use the edit mode.

I've only used Edit Mode once, and that was years ago. I know there are some keys you have to hold down (Shift+Ctrl+something, I think) and then use the right (?) mouse button to rotate stuff. To make your changes permanent, start Celestia from a command line and there should be a way to generate an...

worldb, I may be something to be interesting for you ! :) Terraformed_moon.jpg I's our moon around a future Earth... what do you think ? That's almost exactly what I'd imagine a terraformed Gallach to look like, but with a massive shell of "glitter" satellites in orbit to reflect away the...

Re: Ordyss (HIP 56948) system

This is Eshya, the largest of Ordyss' planets. The rings still need some work, and like Udara it will eventually have some moons. This planet's texture wasn't made from Jupiter images like Udara's, but from some extremely heavily manipulated clouds. http://i.imgur.com/7Njwki3.jpg On a different note...

Please don't recolor Venus for volcanic planets without first doing some heavy editing. It's too recognizable.

Re: Ordyss (HIP 56948) system

PS- the gas giant is a knockout! What methods do you use? I combined some Voyager, Galileo, and Cassini photos of Jupiter. Udara's north pole is a resized GRS, for example. I found a picture of Jupiter that was almost perfectly sized (a vertical stripe of the planet) to be copied to fit around the ...

Ordyss (HIP 56948) system

Ordyss is a completely fictional solar system I've started making. I have a tendency to forget abut projects once I've started them, so hopefully this doesn't end up as vaporware. So far I have 4 of the 9 planets in the system finished, but there aren't any moons or asteroids yet. http://i.imgur.com...

Re: Verona Planetary System (Fictional)

A guess only but that "pink" and NOT purple for http://t.imgbox.com/adkM0K3r.jpg is your screen setting or GAMA for some odd reason some windows boxes have the screen set to MAX brightness and MAX contrast ( not good ) brightness ~ 75% gama 1 contrast ~66% but use the windows built in too...

Not sure why Escalus is pink. I'd imagine a brown dwarf to be dark red or orange.

CMS2?

I can't post threads in the ideas board, so I'm putting this here. CMS may be a dead, obsolete mesh format, but with some modifications it could be more powerful than ever before. First, I'll address the limitations of CMS and how it could be improved. 1. Low resolution. It doesn't make much sense t...
