Re: Requests for a few systems

Thank you for your help, folks. :) I did what I could with Alcyone but I'm not satisfied with it. Rigel and Polaris were just guide stars so I removed them from consideration. The mentality behind certain star choices is that there aren't a lot of habitable planets anyway and any civilization that i...

Re: Requests for a few systems

So basically even if a system is identified as being, say, a 5-star system, these are just quick-and-dirty assumptions someone's made by glancing at the catalog info and I shouldn't worry about them? That would make life easier. LOL Thank you for going over the info; I'll see what to do about it nex...

Re: Requests for a few systems

I'm not making a whole lot of sense out of this; I was able to BS several of these but Alcyone is beyond me and I need that one. :\

Requests for a few systems

I am working on a fictional atlas. Certain multiple star systems that I need to reference are beyond my skillz because I would like them to use semi-accurate orbital data. Would anyone with the skillz and knowledge of the relevant data sources be willing to build approximations of these systems? Alc...

Well, that's just a [url] tag isn't it? You're no fun. :p

I am curious what the [tex] tag is though?

Cel link BBCode

This forum might benefit from the addition of a [cel][/cel] BBCode such as this: http://f.tarazedi.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=187 If you're inclined to add such a thing, mine looks like this: BBCode: [cel]{TEXT}[/cel] HTML replacement: <a href="{TEXT}" style="font-size:7pt; color:#0...

Re: Mercury Messenger new Global maps (Sep 2012)

Thank you to all you people who are always making awesome resources. :) I have a question/request. Are there any global maps of Mercury including Messenger data at a reasonable resolution that a netbook can handle? Preferably with bumpmaps/normalmaps and locations for the non-Mariner side? I'm tryin...

Re: wTc Star Maker 4.00 for Celestia, HTML, BBCode, and Tiki

I am working on 5.00. Instead of stars being calculated according to ranges, there is now a base data table for the various stellar classes. The new version uses more stellar classes and uses the temperature, bolometric correction, and rotation from Celestia's source files combined with a similar ta...

Question about rotation periods

The following from the rotation periods in the Celestia source codes. On the first lines representing the "V" rotation periods, I notice a cliff between F9 and G0 (0.7 and 11.1). It occurs to me that if the FVs are in units of solar rotational periods and the GVs are by days, there isn't a...

Re: wTc Star Maker 4.00 for Celestia, HTML, BBCode, and Tiki

1. Planets and moons are rendered after the stars, in a separate box to the right. If your query is sufficiently large, it may be timing out before these are rendered. Alternatively, you may have selected the stars-only option when making your query. 2/3. There should be no centralized distribution;...

wTc Star Maker 4.00 for Celestia, HTML, BBCode, and Tikiwiki

I'm releasing the current stable version of the wTc Star Maker, 4.00. Its purpose is to generate random, mostly-realistic star systems for Celestia and also export these systems as HTML, BBCode, and Tikiwiki code. Version 5.00, when I get that far, will involve rebuilding the starfunctions.php to mo...

Much prettier than mine. I might use your numbers to adjust mine later, if you don't mind. function createstars(){ global $systemid; global $whichstar; global $giantskew; global $blueskew; $starclassrand = rand(0, 10000000); $i = 0; while($i < $blueskew){ $starclassrand = $starclassrand * (rand(0, 1...
