Re: Post your Celestia pictures!

Ah thanks, good feedback, so one more quick hack at this. I didn't play with colors in the Gimp: just made sure that it was close to noon on earth when I captured the picture looking up at Jupiter... darkest stripe on Jupiter is now (RGB) 132,157, 214 and the blue sky near it is 90,149.207, so I thi...

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!

I'm no expert at such things, but I think that you want to make such photos you need to take advantage of the atmospheric effects in Celestia. In your solarsystem.ssc file, add something like this to throw a copy of jupiter over the moon: "Jup:Earth II" "Sol/Earth" { Texture &quo...

Re: Post your Celestia videos!

What do you think would be appropriate? I've got Celestia in the description of the video, the tags, the credits and I posted the link here. I just added a link to Celestia's homepage in the description. Also worth noting that there were a couple pieces of hardware and software that I had to pay for...

In honor of Gene Roddenberry's birthday, I just posted my own Celestia based scifi epic.

Tell me what you think:

Re: Celestia v1.6.0 Release Candidate 1 available for testing

Interestingly, I just upgraded to 1.6.0 RC3, and all the strange artifacts (blurry text, white artifacts on edge of atmospheres) went away completely. It looks beautiful now.

I don't know who fixed what, but thank you.

Re: Celestia v1.6.0 Release Candidate 1 available for testing

Thank you for you quick answer... -- toggle CTRL+L (night-lights on/off ) That doesn't seem to make a difference. (It works fine on this machine with 1.5.1, btw.) -- use the latest driver for your graphics card (older ATI drivers are often BUGGY)! I was not using the latest driver. I upgraded, and n...

Re: Celestia v1.6.0 Release Candidate 1 available for testing

This may be a known issue, but I don't see it in this thread: I'm not seeing any Night Side Lights on earth in this 1.6.0rc1.

32 bit Vista with ATI Radeon X1270 (if that makes a difference).

thank you, Celestia.

I was fooling around with the marvelous Celestia, and put together two (hopefully) humorous movies. Given how I put them together with Celestia and the models in the Motherlode, I thought I should drop a line, and say thank you to the Celestia community for all the fantastic software and models that...
