Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

Looks good. I'm unable to say what's wrong with it. the weird thing is that Android build does not have the glitch, while iOS build has it. The Chinese localization is too bad  . Can I help to translate the Chinese locale? you are very welcome to contribute! Celestia relies on gettext PO files...

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

Looks like precision/z-fighting issue. Is it possible to control float precision in shaders with gl4es? GL4ES translates desktop GL shaders to GLES, so I think float precision is controlled by precision modifier, like hmm precision highp float; here's the original/GL4ES translated shader source of ...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

it actually makes me feel that the shaders should be read from a specific place (not to be influenced by environment variables), or just hardcoded in a way in CPP code, since we don't actually read shaders other than the ones we have Also, zooming in and out using Markerz's build is much faster, jus...

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

I can confirm that the crash is fixed. Good With beta3, zooming in and out is very slow. This was not the case with the previous betas. I have not really touch that part of code, maybe its because I built it on CI, which have a different set up from my local machine (for now). So I'll wait for CI t...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

This fixes the crash, but now something strange has happened to all of the text and the galaxies. font.png Like onetwothree said, shaders are missing, copy those from the .zip/Celestia.app/Contents/Resources/CelestiaResources/shaders to the shaders folder where it read data from (in your case your ...

but right after it loads all the files it crashes. Thanks a lot! i have identified the issue, should be able to provide another version fixing it in a few days! Also, when I click on it, it's reading files from where my 1.6.1 installation is (/Applications/Celestia.app/). I don't know if this is in...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

macOS users can try the corresponding macOS build here, it is built with most current commit (with a few changes that landed in Android/iOS build) should have the same functionality as the one onetwothree provides

this is a native macOS application instead of the QT build in Celestia repo.

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

I didnt know Celestia uses threading at all. I thought it uses loop reading messages from a queue provided by OS. Not sure how on Android, but most other UIs I know is implemented this way. Nevermind. my mistake, it is not related to threading  i'd rather say this is https://github.com/Celes...

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

Frankly speaking, i'm not familiar with this part of Celestia, I just once fixed one bug in it, @pirogronian actually made changes to completion routines. But I'll try to investigate what's going there. sorry, i just found out that this is related to another crash. The cause should be allocating to...

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

Done. I found the cause, I suspect it's related to threading. I used getObjectCompletion for search, which should cause a race if it is called not on the same thread as CelestiaCore's tick? @onetwothree, any thoughts? Well, while using the 2 fingers to zoom-in and zoom-out is good, it actually resu...

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

Also Markerz, is it possible for you to enable the app to save its data progress so that everytime I leave the app and then return to it, it does not have to restart everytime? In this case, probably app is killed by system due to shortage of memory or other system resources in the background, I'll...

Re: Mobile Celestia for Android beta testing

I just made Celestia crash and relaunched it. Look and see if there's a report. OK I assume the crash happened in C/C++ code instead of the UI part. it turns out AppCenter need to be configured in a way to accept crash in C/C++ code. Without it, only UI crash would be reported, that's why it still ...
