Re: More detailed Mars maps in WWT

Microsoft's World Wide Telescope project has been updated to incorporate higher resolution 3D maps of Mars. For information about the update, see http://www.nasa.gov/topics/nasalife/features/microsoft_ww_telescope.html For WWT itself, see http://www.worldwidetelescope.org/Home.aspx Ahhh, thanks sel...

Re: New Chris Laurel Article woven-media.com

28 May 2008 UPDATE : I've posted some corrections to my article for those interested. I had written that Celestia had been downloaded over two million times -- it's well over six million! This has been corrected. I've also given more prominent standing to the co-authors of Celestia, rightly so, and...

Re: data output for other apps?

Hmm, it's an interesting idea. Could you be a little more specific by what type of data you would like to stream?

Re: LaTeX enabled for mathematical notation

Wow, this is very impressive. Is this the full MathML extension or a subset of unicode characters supported by the UTF-8 encoding of the web pages on the server? UTF-8 encoded documents, such as the web page we are viewing right now, supports a subset of unicode characters that can render a subset o...

New Chris Laurel Article woven-media.com

I just wanted to let all those interested know that I've posted an article regarding some of my email conversations I've had with Chris Laurel recently. I was actually fortunate enough to have one of my code submissions accepted by Chris. You can now use X11 colors in your celx docs and cel scripts....

Re: Qt Celestia

Here's another screencap for those of you curious to see the progress on the experimental Celestia Qt4 GUI. Thanks to some tips from Chris and a few slaps upside the VC++ linker's "head," the Qt app compiled without much trouble. NOTE: You will need to download and place the libjpeg2.lib l...

Setting up Qt4 for VS 2005

I have Qt4.3.4 configured to run with VS 2005 on Win XP. Took a little tweaking but it works. Here's my setup for Visual Studio 2005, this assumes you've already installed Qt4 on XP. I created QTDIR and QMAKESPEC environment variables. QTDIR is the path to the Qt folder and QMAKESPEC is the platform...

Re: Building Celestia with VC2005 GUI vs. command line

I just built Celestia (r4142) with winlips2 via the command line (makerelease) and the sun appears without sun spots: Adirondack Good observation. I also just recently compiled from both the commandline and VS 2005 and now that I think of it, the commandline compile did not show the sun spots eithe...

Epimetheus, Hungry4info, Consider the components of the vector X in 2 such frames , this means X.X=X^2 = (c*t)^2 - x^2 -y^2 -z^2 = (c*t')^2 - x'^2 -y'^2 - z'^2 Forgive my budding mathematical knowledge ( intermediate algebra and intro to discrete math), Dr. Shrempp, but in the above equation are we...

Re: Watch out for ijgjpeg.lib and missing textures!

The current celestia.mak file from SVN contains links to ijgjpeg.lib. I could not see jpeg textures using the lib. Yes. This is correct. I had this problem too a while back. But I think the ijgjpeg.lib file was updated in one of the winlibs packages and I can't remember which one it was. The winlib...

Re: Watch out for ijgjpeg.lib and missing textures!

Great! Thanks Chris and everybody else! I got a debug version of Celestia compiled via Visual Studio 2005 Pro IDE. I used the winlibs-3/winlibs-3 files and the vcproj file from SVN as an existing code VS 2005 project. I only had to require that the manifest not be embedded and the build succeeded. Y...

Re: Watch out for ijgjpeg.lib and missing textures!

The Windows build environment is still sort of a mess because we don't have one makefile that works with all compilers, and a certain stubborn Celestia developer won't upgrade his compilers to a modern version so that we can check in the Makefiles that work with VS 2005 and 2008. I strongly recomme...

Re: Watch out for ijgjpeg.lib and missing textures!

I noticed while in debug that a number of files of type *-lok-mask.png are not present in the medres folder. Curious. Should there be?

Code: Select all

e.g.
medres
------
callisto-lok-mask.png
europa-lok-mask.png
miranda-lok-mask.png
ariel-lok-mask.png
mercury-lok-mask.png
etc.

Re: Watch out for ijgjpeg.lib and missing textures!

This was you, wasn't it:?: It looks like ijgjpeg.lib could be causing this kind of problem since most if not all Celestia's textures are *.jpg. Firstly, thanks for your help guys. Cartrite gets the gold medal though. It was indeed ijgjpeg.lib. Adding this file will result in Earth having textures bu...
