Re: New ICON for Celestia

I also think the fourth as an interesting and new suggestion. I like the hot feeling we have watching it. Saturn is also a good planet choice : it is currently visited with cassini probe, she is, except Earth, probably one of system solar's planet the most known and the most recognized by a lot of p...

Re: Displaying orbits

Hi,

I like the fading effect which allows to know the sense of the movement but also thanks to that it's easier to locate the object itself!

Is interesting to have orbits which appears slowly with fading when we turn them on or off?

Re: introducing myself + a few feature requests

Welcome on the forum, About simulating star movement, I think it could be useful for educational purposes to show how a star can move too ; this has remembered to me this thread of my own about constellation deformations (and so star movements) http://www.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&...

Check list in contextual menu

Hi, With the last versions of Celestia, new features appear in objet contextual menus like those of planets. Indeed, among them, one particulary is the vector reference submenu where you can decide freely to show (for each independant objet ) or not graphical elements like frames, sun direction, ter...

Re: New content and interactivity in next Celestia

I'm sad to know it. I hope he will come back someday! Thanks Bob to inform me.
I think my contextual menu special feature should interest everyone, shouldn't it? Should I post elsewhere then?

Re: New content and interactivity in next Celestia

A simple way could use however only Shift button. When you click with your mouse to call the contextual menu, you press shift (with has no function in this case) and then, if you click on a function inside the menu, the menu doesn't disapear after. Would not be easier to show 'Vector references' the...

Re: New content and interactivity in next Celestia

The new current contextual menus of the different objects in Celestia have check interesting proprieties ; but how boring it is to check several of them : one click and the contextual menu disappear, I show it again and check the second contextual option and again ... When you want to play with obje...

Re: Surface localisation name in italic?

I'm not sure of that. In the command line (when you presse enter), colored text backgrounds would not be a discreet graphical solution.

Re: Surface localisation name in italic?

Wouldn't italic text (for surface localisation) be welcomed for 1.6 version?

For those interested in an application of these bright stars and diffraction (view hardware and atmosphere diffraction), an example have been simulated in latest versions of Stellarium : just toggle atmosphere filter in this program when you're watching the Sun! This is a simulated example of Hungry...

Finally, it lacks different elements to simulate the unperfect (but more common) view throught eyes. I sum up them :
-Diffraction
-Over sensitive cells effect
-Lens effects

And according to your last link, more can be added...

Re: Bright Stars!

It's interesting... The effect depicted by Hungry4info can be also considered as an oversensitivity of the eyes like in cameras : when a pixel of the camera receive too much of light, then the neighboorhood pixels get what is over the limit of silicium electron possibility? Is this effect illustrate...
