Re: Is there a script that marks all known galaxies inside the render limit for 1.6.1?
Try reading the scripting guides on Wikibooks. In this case you want to write a script that goes through every galaxy in Celestia's database, and marks each galaxy that has a distance less than or equal to 10 million light-years. Also: can you not create so many threads please Actually Gurren made t...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated October 30, 2020
Both of you stop this now , before it escalates into an argument. Trappist, Gurren is correct that you shouldn't make addons just to get them in CO. Posting links to all your addons in the CO thread isn't a serious offense, but it is annoying. Just post addons in their own threads; the CO devs will ...

I don't know. That certainly shouldn't happen.

trappistplanets wrote:and how do i do that without breaking celestia or any of my modified files like addons, textures and other stuff
I don't recommend doing it at all. It's much easier to set up Celestia 1.7, as described in the thread I linked.

Re: Celestia 1.6.2 is out
why does the [damn] render [limit] even exist There are technical reasons for this, which have been described elsewhere on the forum. why is celestia the only space sim that has a render limit? I doubt that's the case. anyway to remove the render limit all together so i can render a star system out...

Re: making 1.6.1 Render limet bigger?
Is there any way i can get 1.6.1 to render things as far out as M87 or farther ? if so, what do i edit/modify in the files to force celestia to render stars and planets that far out on 1.6.1? You would have to modify the source code and recompile Celestia. is there a 1.7.0 setup install for windows...

The star render limit for all 1.6.x versions is the same - 10 million light-years.

ssamsamm, Celestia 1.7 is still in beta, which is why there's no download link on the website. You can find installation instructions here.

Re: Using Latest Version, No Sol ... No Earth !!!
Check that your Celestia/data folder contains the files nearstars.stc and solarsys.ssc , which define Sol and Earth. Also check that the files celestia.cfg and start.cel exist in your main Celestia folder. (These files are in CelestiaResources on Mac, and the start script may be somewhere else on no...

Re: Gaia search question.
I need position, proper motion, relative velocity, and whether it is approaching or receding. Could I impose further and ask how to determine doppler from from all that. Position is in the ra and dec columns. These are right ascension and declination, in degrees. Proper motion is in the pmra and pm...

Re: Gaia search question.
If you're using the Gaia Archive, you can (in the Search -> Basic tab) click "Extra conditions", then "Add condition" (circled). You can then enter the condition you want (in this case, parallax >= 10), as shown in the screenshot.

trappistplanets , at one point JVV deleted almost all of his old posts, leaving threads like this. Please don't comment on these threads, it's necroposting. Re: Extrasolar, Stars and Exoplanets for Celestia
Update to GCIRS 16SW, a contact binary star at the Galactic Center. The mesh was created using ajtribick's recent Python script, which can be found here. This addon requires Vision's Galactic Center addon, since the star is defined to orbit Sagittarius A*.
