The green squares are nebula labels. They're visible because the box in the third column next to "Nebulae" is checked.

The Oort Cloud is invisible by default. To see it, you need to click on "Set Addon" and select "Oort Cloud". Also keep in mind that you need to be far from the Sun (more than a light-year) to see the Oort Cloud.

Re: Project Sisyphus - Texturing/painting every exoplanet known

HD 209458 b ("Osiris") Apparently no one has ever made a texture addon for the classic hot Jupiter. Now there is one. No attempt has been made to render the planet's evaporating atmosphere, since it wouldn't really be visible (unlike with Kepler-1520b ). Planet texture is my own work, sta...

Re: How do you add more stellar classes in Celestia?

Droopy Angora, reviving a 2 year old thread is necroposting, which is discouraged here. I'm not sure what star classes you're suggesting should/will be added, but spectral classes Y and WO have already been added, and quark stars (which you mention) can just be defined as neutron stars.

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

Hi. Just discovered this thread. I am slowly revising the free Educational Activities I used to create for schools who wanted to use Celestia in classrooms. To that end, I am seeking spacecraft models for (1) MAVEN, (2) Mars Perseverance Rover (3) The Parker Solar Probe and (4) Musk's Spaceship1. D...

The planet count is the total number of planets in the catalog, not just those added in the latest release.

Re: Vision's Addons

Now not to get into anything critical. but 1 thing I did when I installed the Ran addon was increase the distance 1000 fold (due to the render distance limit of stars and planets being like 10 Mly I believe) so therefore the Rootax "stars" (HIP 317170 and HIP 317171) are 5.8 Mly from Sol ...

Bugfix to epimetheus-janus.zip uploaded, fixing the orbits rendering with the wrong inclination in default (non-Origin) Celestia. Thanks to trappistplanets for making me aware of this issue.

The poster edited a spam link into it, so I deleted it and banned the poster. Actually the original text was just copied from the OP.

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2021

Which thread? By the way, why can't the evolution of the Solar System beyond the Continental Drift and Dying Solar System features be added? At least the formation of the Moon would be nice. Re: Exoplanet Misconceptions

Another misconception of exoplanets is about highly "habitable" planets orbiting red dwarfs [...] I will be adding to the OP including some text on planetary habitability. Now TRES-2 Ab's albedo was said to be anywhere from the 0.0136 (1.36%) value down to as low as 0.0004 (0.04% based on...

Misconceptions about color

G-type stars (like the Sun) visually appear yellow. This isn't exactly about exoplanets, but it's such a common misconception that it has to be addressed here. The Sun, and other G-type stars, are actually white. This should be obvious if you think about it, since sunlight is white. Additionally, i...

Exoplanet Misconceptions

There seem to be several commonly held misconceptions about exoplanets (and related topics). This thread explains why they're wrong. pedro_jg suggested making a topic like this on Discord about a month ago; well, here it is. Work in progress, more entries will be added. HD 100546 b is the largest kn...
