"Hide my online status ..." no longer works

Just noticed that this feature no longer works on the forum....I don't know how long for because it's not something I've ever checked, but admins, you may want to investigate why this no longer works.

Yep, that's the one I found shortly afterwards (see my edit in last post). and it works well! Thanks for the reply though.

Re: Starship Avalon" from the movie, "Passengers"

Selden,

I just downloaded animv100beta3 but there is no sign of a Build -> Split Solid function in it.
Is there a later version than beta3?

EDIT: Forget about it ... I found a later dev build which has that feature.

Re: Interactive Resurgence Maps

Bad link to ZIP file Selden. This works: ZeusBattery_v09.zip Diff: ZeusPower_v09 --> ZeusBattery_v09 BTW. I suggest a darker background colour. This one turns out to be almost exactly the same colour as my mouse cursor in Celestia (YMMV), which means my cursor "disappears" whenever i...

Re: Starship Avalon" from the movie, "Passengers"

Frank, Although it's very easy to convert it into a CMOD, it is very difficult to do it so that it would look right/good in Celestia. Main problems are: 1/2 of the normals are reversed. No useful sub-meshes in the model. The only practical way to get this into Celestia in any decent form would be to...

Re: Disappearing threads

Thanks Croc,

I've tried to re-post from memory most of my comments from the deleted thread in the original thread here: https://celestia.space/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17916&p=137552#p137552

Hope that not too much else was lost.

Re: New Celestia Website and new Forum design

I've consolidated and re-posted here most of the material I posted yesterday in the thread that was destroyed by the "backup" problem.... My personal conclusions from all of this information and from personal experience is that a dark background theme is not necessarily a bad choice for a ...

Disappearing threads

There seems to be something wrong with the forum. Several days ago, just after it was started, this thread announcing the new forum design just disappeared suddenly soon after it was started: https://celestia.space/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17916 So, I started a new thread to make some further ...

Re: New Celestia Website and new Forum design

Hmm, I could not make the previous sentence Dark Red Carl, Above the posting box you should see some options, one of which is "color": options.png If you click on "color", a palette will appear: palette.png then just select the text who's color you want to change , and click the...

Re: New Celestia Website and new Forum design

Alexell , Nice job in general on the re-design. Just a couple of observations: 1. I suggest when viewport is reduced to phone size, it would be better to keep the "last post" link: lastpost.png , and lose the "pages" links: pages.png . On phones I think most people just want to ...

Re: Concerns about the impact of file system changes

I understand. You moved your asteroids project to the "Catalogs" folder??? I should clarify that when I said that "Asteroids, Comets, and Dwarf Planets belong in the "catalogs" folder ...", I only refer to the core set of objects which are always "distributed"...

Alexell: Is this forum welcoming new members?

A colleague is unable to be recognized as a full member, and messages to admin have been ignored for weeks. As the forum only appears to currently have ~ 1/2 a dozen active members, if the plan is to grow the popularity of the forum, then perhaps admin needs to be a bit more proactive in welcoming n...

Re: Concerns about the impact of file system changes

Alexell, I think you misunderstood my point. Perhaps the choice of the name "Aliens" was not a good idea and has misled you -- the name was chosen only to demonstrate the issue that it's load order now depends on it's lexical precedence in the data folder, whereas in 1.6.x it did not. You ...

Re: New 64 bit 1.7 version suggestions and bugs

Janus, I suspect the second part of Selden's post: It should list all of the available command-line options, if only because "-help" is not recognized. is a suggestion, rather than a bug report. I may be wrong, but AFAIK Celestia (certainly 1.6.x versions) in this circumstance, has never d...

Re: Concerns about the impact of file system changes

Here's a small (fictional) example to demonstrate the issue I have raised above. The issue is this: 1.6.1 --- Asteroids, Comets, etc loaded in a strictly controlled order in the SolarSystemCatalogs phase. 1.7.0 --- Asteroids, Comets, etc are loaded much later in the ExtrasDirectories phase, the orde...

Absolutely agree with Selden.
I for one will not be using this executable if loading information is obfuscated.

Re: Pitch Black system

@Rufus, as mentioned that system is fiction, not science, and surely cannot exist in reality so one shouldn't emphasise here at accuracy resp. astrophysics You surely misunderstood my suggestion to google "orbital resonance". I was not advocating for scientific reality, just providing info...

Re: Concerns about the impact of file system changes

Alexell, I don't anticipate any major issues with the beta release in December, but now that the load order of those solar-system objects is no longer strictly enforced and guaranteed to occur before all other extras (by virtue of inclusion in "SolarSystemCatalogs"), I warn only that unexp...

Re: Concerns about the impact of file system changes

Sorry Alexell, been busy with real-life for last few days. Chuft-Captain, I understand what you are talking about, but I will stick to my point of view, since there have been no significant changes in the directory structure that could affect the work of add-ons. I would not make significant changes...
