That is interesting, I didnt know it.
But I even have errors reported there on a fresh clean install of basic 1.6.1 :( . For example on gstar.jpg flare.jpg and logo.png

Is there a way of sending this error log to a text file ?

Unfortunately, all I can say is that it works fine for me. This makes me suspect that your problem is that the surface texture image files aren't in the correct location, so Celestia is unable find them. Surface texture files which are specified inside Celestia's 3D meshes must be in the folder Ah!...
