Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

I noticed that in your screenshot, there are a few Chinese characters that are not showing, maybe you were using a Traditional Chinese font to display Simplified Chinese characters? It was not a Chinese font actually but a Korean one with (partial) support for Chinese characters. I updated and clea...

TrueType fonts are working at last:

And Chinese, Korean and Japanese text output:

The code still requires optimizations and RTL languages support, but at least it's able to show any characters supported by a selected font.

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

dunno :) I've just added artifacts creation in our build server so I will not provide snapshots any more. To download artifacts (exe files) do the following: * go to https://ci.appveyor.com/project/375gnu/celestia/history * select a build you want to test (builds with name like 1.7.0-dev-248 are for...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

Use the full previous release celestia-win64_1.7.0~git20190903+3a56afb.7z and the unpack update celestia-update_1.7.0~git20190906+1776830.7z and then
celestia-update-1.7.0~git20191101+9e9541c.7z

I'm too lazy to build full releases.

Nope. A new windows snapshot available, binary files only . Changes since the previous one: * Use bolometric luminosity to calculate comet's tail fading * Startup logo is not hardcoded any more and can be specified in start.cel * No more duplicated english body names (e.g. Earth / Earth) * Splash sc...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

1) RingSystemSections won't be restored because this is a) a workaround b) incorrect, global configuration option. Proper implementation a) should take into account ring size in pixels (like we have LOD for spheres, we should have LOD for rings) b) should draw almost perfect rings using glsl. 2) if ...

Re: New bugfix release 1.6.2-beta1

It seems Celestia 1.6.2 cannot overwrite (or use) the old APPDATA/Roaming cel file. Also after the first bookmark the APPDATA bookmark file won't update any longer, but in the Program Files folder favorites.cel is getting updated (but it is obviously not enough). weird Is the use of profiles hardco...

What do you have in FavoritesFile option of celestia.cfg?

What is you environment variable APPDATA?

If you don't have it, what do you have in AppData\Roaming\Celestia subdir of your home directory?

Maybe. I don't know. It supports a lot of formats, that's why I suggested it.

Re: Improved atmopheric light scattering

Oh well. How so? It uses old inhome vector library replaced with Eigen, and as the rest of Celestia uses Eigen, we simply unable to build it. I have a branch with scattersim updated to Eigen, but I never had a reference implementation to check its output, afair it returns a black filled file. Now w...

Re: Improved atmopheric light scattering

There are several tutorials on the internet how to implement atmospheric scattering, but i haven't checked them against neither glsl nor scattersim code yet. Actually scattersim may not work now :)
