Re: Shortcut for menu?

I use Celestia installed from FreeBSD ports with cwm window manager. I don't have window decorations so how to access menu? I want asteroid orbits to be shown. Pressing O shows only planet orbits. I suggest installing https://www.freshports.org/astro/celestia-gtk/ instead. It has menus. You have a ...

Re: Increase the size of galactic and star bases

Binary stars.dat is built from stars.txt using src/tools/stardb/buildstardb.pl (requires Perl) or makestardb provided in celestia-tools archive.

You don't need to be a programmer to fix such issues. We are waiting for contributions.

Re: Specular maps and Normalmaps together

That's was an example of a really bad code. A hidden, implicit dependency between VP and GLSL code paths. But thanks to your help it was quite easy to fix it.

Re: Specular maps and Normalmaps together

cartrite , are you sure that your e290322 is correct? With files you sent I have the following: e290322: https://celestia.space/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=5531 the same for 8a894bfb: https://celestia.space/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=5533 f478faa5 and 4ad277ed look differ...

Re: Specular maps and Normalmaps together

So, you misunderstood me. My idea was that you use 85829063 as a base, then apply 8a894bfb and 4ad277ed only (using git cherry-pick). But nevermind, with your dataset I can reproduce the issue so I will do this myself. The only possible change between 8a894bfb and 4ad277ed is vertex program removal,...

Re: Specular maps and Normalmaps together

Hmm, i will try reproduce it locally. Basically 8a894bfb and 4ad277ed do the same thing (compute inverted planet view matrix), but 4ad277ed does it properly from vector math's point of view, i bet they produce they same results.

Re: Specular maps and Normalmaps together

Hi cartrite , Thank you for investigations! If you have time, could you test 85829063 with 8a894bfb cherry-picked? And then with 4ad277ed. (85829063 has an error in frustum computation and 8a894bfb provides an workaround for it (i still fill shame for publishing such terrible code) while 4ad277ed ha...

LukeCEL's already posted the URL. We don't have any schedule for windows builds, generally I create them when we have some user visible changes.

can someone make an update windows build in bintray? Thanks! Done. A new build 1.7.0~git20190317+cedca87 (see here ) doesn't have many user visible changes, the most noticeable one is a data files update made by @Askaniy (dwarf planets, minor moons and other Solar system objects; Solar systems plan...

Re: Time to restart development.

What does $HOME mean? And where do I define CELESTIA_DATA_DIR? $HOME is your "home" directory (a directory created by OS to keep your files), you can check it using a bash (terminal window), just type echo $HOME . To define CELESTIA_DATA_DIR temporary use bash again: export CELESTIA_DATA_...

There is a good free library called asymptote it supports a lot of 3D formats. Once we implement more important features and fix more important bugs we may try use it instead of homemade code.

Re: Time to restart development.

If only Celestia could display the absolute path of the files it's reading, not just "data/asteroids.ssc" or whatever. Is this possible? You don't need this actually. Instead put you working copy somewhere, e.g. $HOME/celestia, then define environment variable CELESTIA_DATA_DIR pointing t...
