Re: Archive the Celestia Motherlode

I'm aware of that website. I stumbled upon it some time ago.

If possible, can you also do the Zond 3 mission?

Re: Old addons that are no longer available for download

It looks like it brings you to an error 404. The Wayback Machine probably did not archive the URL in time.

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

It takes a lot of modification and copy-pasting.

We could, but we just need to find orbital parameters.

Re: IDEA: Support for one of the formats supported by Windows Paint 3D

That sounds like a good idea. But if the model is broken or doesn't work in Celestia, we'd have to fix it.

Janus, I'm afraid that won't be helpful as for all I know, Luke is a Mac user, not a Windows user.

Re: Archive the Celestia Motherlode

I would if I could, but unfortunately I have no money. Getting back to the topic, I am not very interested anymore in Celestia, so I may be on hiatus for some time and I will only come back to make posts. I believe someone else will have to take the honors of doing what the topic says.

Re: Archive the Celestia Motherlode

Yes, I agree with selden. While I am aware that it's not gone right now, you never know when a website goes down, so by doing this, people can still download from there.

Re: Archive the Celestia Motherlode

There was likely more than before. I am almost certain that some creators directory had files that were removed and therefore cannot be considered a complete archive. Unless we can get into contact with the owners of the files, it will be incomplete.

Archive the Celestia Motherlode

We all know that at some point, the Celestia Motherlode will go down from the internet. Should this happen, we must prepare by archiving all files and web pages so that after it is gone (in the inevitable future), people will still be able to access. I am aware of the Wayback Machine, but from what ...

I agree with you. Why would they even need an installer? At least include a readme file.

Re: "Add-on releases" section of forum will now have to be Celestia's main addon respository

For all I know, there are some addons that used to be in areas like Don Edwards and John Van Vliet, but it seems they were removed. I was also hoping to see if Hank Cotman's Alpha Omega system was archived, but unfortunately it wasn't. I used to have it on a USB drive, but I lost it.

Re: "Add-on releases" section of forum will now have to be Celestia's main addon respository

I'm not sure if it's complete or not. Some user directories are blank or missing completely, likely because they were removed at the authors' request.
