Re: Hyperion Proto-supercluster

Speaking of Superclusters and Galaxy movements, this could be of help: http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/info/press-releases/local_void/ And the Cosmicflows-3 Galaxy compendium could be of good use as well: arxiv.org/abs/1605.01765 A video came with the research as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n92M...

Re: Hypergiant star

Now that's huge! But it would not be the largest star yet, because there are a few stars whose highest radii estimates put it at a size beyond Saturn's orbit. Not to mention the hypothetical "Quasi-Stars" that were said to exist back when the Universe was young

Re: hi there

Actually the most simple way is to use Biefeld-Brown effect or "spider effect". To achieve superluminar speed, we may use spider effect with frequencies equal to some natural resonances. I haven't read it all yet but I guess from what I'm reading, those are technology that despite their g...

Re: Hyperion Proto-supercluster

Galaxy impacts are calculated on huge computation clusters, how do you imaging this work done on a commodity PC? It doesn't have to be fully accurate, seeing that we're predicting the future with it. I think IllustrisTNG might give us a basic idea of how we can predict galaxy collisions and mergers...

Re: Hyperion Proto-supercluster

Speaking of Galaxy Clusters and Superclusters, would it be possible for the developers to make a galaxy group/cluster and supercluster barycenter that would serve as the identity of the supercluster, and then perhaps make the galaxies move in such a way that they will eventually merge with one anoth...

Re: hi there

On the other hand I strongly believe, that some humans flies already around all our Solar System and maybe to nearby stars on super-duper classified anti-gravity spacecrafts. Of course those theories are wild and crazy. But then again, it's a possibility. There may be ancient aliens, alien technolo...

Ahhh. I just don't want to hurt anyone of you here, you all are good people just doing what's good for Celestia, and I don't want to be a black sheep here. So, just in case, I had to apologize

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

Oh, I didn't realize that branch astrodb is an issue... I didn't mean to say your AstroDB Branch is an issue. I just said that because the AstroDB Branch is your current development within Celestia 1.7.0. I asked Onetwothree regarding the issues of Celestia 1.7.0 that are not issues of the AstroDB ...

That's great! What other issues aside from the AstroDB Branch do you think you can deal with on the next snapshot?

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

Because it's vcpkg (that's the tool we use to work with dependencies on windows) build file is incorrect. It's file for development but bad for end-users as visual c runtime libraries are built in release mode, and debug libraries are not available unless you install a compiler suite. Ahhh. Startin...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2019

That's interesting... Celestia Origin v9 has 64k Mercury, 64k Venus, 64k Earth and 64k Moon, but not 64k Mars! But why? Do you guys have lack of data on Mars despite there being 5 active orbiters at once for half a decade? It appears it's hard to find a 64K mars surface map. Perhaps because such de...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

@Lafuente_Astronomy This topic, Pg#22, #437, sorry about late reply, thought I had posted, but apparently I hit the wrong button. Janus. Thanks a lot, Janus. I'll download it soon Crap, sounds like luajit is a debug build. I'll update it later. Added after 6 hours 23 minutes: Crap #2. Luajit builds...

There are extra ':' colons in the middle of the addresses beside the celestia-update. Remove them and they work. https://dl.bintray.com/celestia/celestia-builds/c ... e-1.7.0~git20190710 7b095b8.7z For instance, or: https://dl.bintray.com/celestia/celestia-builds/ If you want to look at them all. Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

Because writing good 3D engine requires really high skills. Good engines keep GPU saturated, while with Celestia when CPU is preparing data, GPU is idle, then GPU is working and CPU is idle and so on. Now we don't have any devs with good 3D experience. We are just learning. It's ok. Keep up the goo...

Re: New Celestia unified runtime database

More hacks in the code make it more unclear. Moreover, as I mentioned already, localized names would be unavaliable in search console until getLocalized() is called, what isn't quaranteed at all. So, I'm preparing my code for thread solution, as @onetwothree suggested. That's great! I'll be awaitin...

Re: New Celestia unified runtime database

Existing problems: There is a hack in NameInfo which may lead to problems in the future. Early its content was set during construction and was immutable. But due to enormously long loading time I was forced to delay initiation of localized name version. I did it by reimplementation of getLocalized(...

Hello! It's entirely up to you but if you feel like it, can you add the Starlink satellites that were launched by SpaceX a month ago, and were notorious for the "satellite train" view for a few days?

Re: New Celestia unified runtime database

I'm focused on C++ code rather, but who knows... Alright. I can wait for that. Also, you think you can do what Janus suggested? It may be one of the ways to improve Celestia's performance with regards to the implementation of huge amounts of data that is associated with the AstroDB Branch. Also, on...
