Just asking, but how did you manage to find/make a 16k texture for Neptune? I want to have one in my Celestia install!
And what about Saturn and its rings?

Re: Star cluster
"Houston, we have a problem". I think i figured out how Daly does his/her queries, and it looks like he uses a Gaia Archive query on a circle around the cluster. I also added parallax filters to prevent sausage cluster issues into my queries. Maybe I should add some addons to this thread ...

Not at all, its just that these objects just so happened to be more complex than i first expected.

WR 104's dust spiral and its possible tertiary companion that makes me wonder if it even exists, as well as the BRN's odd hollow round trapezoid shape with a irregular ring at the very tip... Well...SevenSpheres wrote:For WR 104 and the Blue Ring Nebula, I think Gurren was making those?

When will you tackle the big ones? Like Omega Centarui and 47/Xi Tucanae?

I do know Trappist's computer enviroment, since we know each other very well.
He uses a Windows 7 PC with Celestia 1.6.x, and he doesnt use Lua Tools.

I'm not sure if adding 200 GB to a stock Celestia install of <0.1 GB is a good idea though...

I remenber using this generator on the Noral System (or the Noral Era, in my timeline), around 2 years ago... Looks like its outdated in my standards today.

Re: An invisible barycenter of the four gas giants entering the inner Solar System in 2029
Nice to see that you replied in a educated and resposible manner (unlike a certain ExoEditor on Wikipedia). Here are my replies: 1. Mainly because the effects of the barycenter are miniscule due to the square-cube law. [See reply #2] 2. Again, the square-cube law plays a role here. The hypothetical ...

Re: An invisible barycenter of the four gas giants entering the inner Solar System in 2029
Yeah yeah yeah, we get it. Listen, the fact that the barycenter of the 4 gas giants would pass through the Earth wont change anything at all. Sure, the gas giants are really massive, but they are also really distant. Just to show why Earth wont be affected by this at all, lets look at Jupiter's dis...

That looks really awesome, John! Any chance of a 16k/32k texture/VT of Phobos and Deimos, as well as a 64k texture/VT of Bennu?

NGC 55 Group - The Missing 12
A generally neglected galaxy group with 18 member galaxies (half of which clash with the Local Group), this seems like a great, chill place (for worldbuilders) - not too far, not too close. Surely this place should be concretely known, right? Hahaha, not at all! After 5 days of researching on 4 diff...

Maybe the USGS Astropedia can help: https://astrogeology.usgs.gov/search
Some mosaics there have file sizes in the gigabytes, so try saving some space for those!
