Normal maps are needed for "Hubble" and "James Webb".

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

cartrite < Ok, two more questions: 1) Why in the new installer (July 21) contain a "celestia" folder, which duplicates all catalogs, models and textures? I noticed that the size of the archive increased dramatically. Celestia folder.png 2) Localization does not work, although all mo-files...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

The qt5 library is measured in gb not mb. I got 40 gb left out of 200. I would need to install that to build Celestia qt5 libs. If need be, I'll download the 1.6.2 version, look at the installer script, and see what changes need to be made. If I can figure it out I will and make the changes. But it...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

It does get installed in (x86), but so do a lot of other 64 bit apps. This is something with windows which is one of the reasons I don't even like using it. But it comes with every computer you buy. Unless you buy a MAC. I'm running a 64 bit computer and even Visual Studio, even though it's a 64 bi...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread

I think I see your confusion. The folder is called win32. Which as far as I know is misleading. I am using a 64 bit environment to build Celestia. It is a 64 bit application that gets installed with the installer. If we are talking about the same archive dated June 17, then yes. The default install...

I absolutely agree. Some spacecrafts I had to ignore because of the mediocre quality.

Just for information: Celestia and CO works without problems on Windows 11. I checked it personally on the insider version.

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

Until your inspiration leaves, I would like to see new versions of "Hubble", "Spitzer" and "Mariner 2". Although the list of spacecrafts with poor models is wider.

"Movie" GIF files as textures In this format too many restrictions. Yes, we should use cmod files for moons and planets. There is such an opportunity even now. But in order for a noticeable relief to appear on large planets, the model must have 1-10 millions of polygons. Better to impleme...

Re: Which are the most underdeveloped parts of Celestia?

How about a lack of things such as the life cycle of stars and nebulae evolution along with pm (proper motion) and plate tectonics on terrestrial bodies like Earth for example. Plus no tides or anything related and no universe expansion. Don't ask too much from Celestia. All of the above requires a...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2021

You know the whole exoplanets (confirmed and unconfirmed) along with the exostars of all types) files need updating since there are said to be many new ones discovered and the whole exoplanet database in Celestia Origin doesn't have them yet. Certainly. But the possibility of updating exoplanets in...
