Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated August 30, 2018

Art Blos, I suggest changing the color of Neptune's moon, Proteus, to a reddish color. The only color shot should probably be used as a refrence point. There's a problem with this: Voyager 2 wasn't there to take true color images of the moons it flew by. Many of the color images it took were not ac...

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

There's an app for mobile devices called Solar Walk 2; it's a 3D space simulator much like Celestia (although without the customization capabilities). They have very detailed 3D models for spacecraft that we're currently missing, such as Gaia and the Viking orbiters. I wonder if one of us could cont...

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

I will see... No problem for me... only time I need... Ok cool! Another thing I've found: from what I've seen the circular cover for the telescope (the "dust cover") was jettisoned once Spitzer began its mission, so there is no need to include it in the model, unless you want to make an e...

Celestia Forums Issues?

I believe there are some problems with the forums. The loading times are very long, and these words are at the top of the screen: [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /var/www/alexell/data/www/celestia.space/serverinfo.php on line 3: file_get_contents(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: T...

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

Hey toutatis, I found a model of the Spitzer Space Telescope that is much better than the one in Celestia Origin. It can be found here: http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/explore/24-Models It's the "Lightwave 3D" file. Could you prepare this for use in Celestia? I have discovered that the ligh...

It happens every once in a while, but if you give it some time, it'll probably pick up again.

Just out of curiosity, how did you get the stars to look so good in the first pic on your first post in this thread?

Just out of curiosity, is there a Chandra X-Ray Observatory model more detailed than the one in Celestia Origin available from somewhere?

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia

toutatis, in case you've forgotten, we are looking for a Stardust addon that utilizes both models that you've made. I'm sure that such an addon won't take long to make, so if you could do that, we'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Old addons that are no longer available for download

I downloaded an 8k Ganymede Normal map off the Motherlode many years ago, and it has since been removed.

I can't remember for sure who made it (my guess is John Van Vliet), but I can understand why the creator removed it, as it is a bit unrealistic.

Here it is:

Re: Hi-res Ganymede texture

SpaceFanatic64 , the first version of Celestia Origin contained a 16k VT surface texture & an 8k (I think) normal map of Ganymede. These textures have been replaced, however, as of the December 30th release (v.2). The surface texture was replaced with an 8k variant, and the normal map was repla...
