The user "Celestial Body" edited an off-topic link into his above post. It is of my opinion that no one should click that link.

It actually appears the post has been deleted, which is good.

Re: Bookmarks Not Saving

The file favorites.cel does not exist in the Celestia directory (folder) proper. Where would this file normally reside on a Windows 7 machine? I believe it is in the following directory: C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Roaming\Celestia At least that's where the bookmarks.xbel file is located for v...

I'm afraid that I don't have a copy of John's Europa normal map (that is, if he made one).

Re: Normals of the Galilean moons (question for John Van Vliet)

John did post an 8k Ganymede Normal Map some time ago, but it has since been taken down. I, having a copy of it, uploaded it here.

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2019

SpaceFanatic64 , I have sent a permission request to @John Van Vliet via private message on the Celestial Matters Forum. I am awaiting his reply. Art Blos , I do understand that the Magellan colors are not really true colors, but perhaps the Magellan colors would make a good alternate surface, simi...

Re: Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2019

Art Blos , in case you're curious, I colorized John Van Vliet's Venus VT a while back to match the Magellan colors using a GIMP batch editor plugin. The result is very close (if not identical to) the Magellan colors. I colorized all the way down to the 64k layer (I haven't done the 128k layer yet, ...

Re: Populating WLM (and other galaxies) with REAL stars

Hi, I know I'm a bit late, but also very confused. I certainly remember a "Extrasolar, Stars and Exoplanets for Celestia" thread started by gironde. What happened to that thread? I believe it was merged into this thread with the "Populating WLM (and other galaxies) with REAL stars&qu...

Re: Solar System Objects for Celestia

@fyr02 I've heard of a program called "Substance Painter" which allows you to "paint" a mesh. I've seen what it looks like (although never used it myself), and it looks like what you might need to make a Helene texture (as well as fix the pole problems on previous textures). Also...

These are some good models! By the way, it appears the "3M Polygon" model does not actually have 3 million polygons.

Thanks for sharing this link with us.

Torrents are NOT illegal. Copyright violations are illegal. Sharing an open source software is perfectly legal. He never said that they were illegal. He said that their reputation for being USED FOR illegal things will scare most into not using them. I agree with @SpaceFanatic64...I'd rather not us...

Note: The original model is from the Motherlode...I have just merged the meshes into a single one.

Also in the plans for this year... Toutatis-4 - Saturn - Titan (or Enceladus)... Toutatis-5 - Uranus - Ariel (or Oberon)... Toutatis-6 - Neptune - Triton... Toutatis-7 - Pluto (or another dwarf planet in the Kuiper belt) What about improved Gaia, Hipparcos, Spitzer, and the other nonfictional space...
