Re: Does anyone besides me use the movie record function?

Virtualdub is good, but Shotcut has multitrack video editing capability. So you can make a real movie out of Celestia, containing multiple shots and different live video effects per partial cuts.

Re: Does anyone besides me use the movie record function?

I use Xvid MPEG-4 codec in 1080p mode with minimum compression to record movies. Celestia creates good video production material.

Use Shotcut to edit the video (saturation, contrast etc.).

Re: IDEA: Support for one of the formats supported by Windows Paint 3D

Obj. format is not fully supported in my opinion (you can import it into cmodview), but it should be supported.

Anyway why isn't there a cmod->obj. converter? It would be very useful.

The last set of drivers officially released for the Voodoo 3 on Win9x was version 1.07.00. For Win2000 the latest version is 1.03.00.

OK. Go to Earth. Press ENTER. Write: Mars. Press ENTER and after that '"c". Press the "," button (near the "M" button) for a few seconds, until Mars will fill your screen. You will see a magnifying telescope focusing on Mars. What we kindly ask is to change th...

Torrents are NOT illegal. Copyright violations are illegal. Sharing an open source software is perfectly legal.

First it would be enough if the use of the "." and "," keys would activate a text on the screen, like "Hubble magnification capability" or "James Webb magnification capability" etc.. Maybe the key combinations of "SHIFT" + "." + "H&quo...

Re: Time to restart development.

Sorry for being little bit off topic, but in another thread it was more or less cleared, that the magnifying capability of Celestia is similar to the (future) James Webb Space Telescope. Is it possible to implement some code changes to use different space telescopes as magnifying tools? Like: 1.) Hu...

Re: Changing star designators, pros and cons

LukeCEL: yes, the dsc files are different in this regard, good point. In my opinion - as I said many times before - backwards compatibility is essential, so ssc/stc/dsc 1.0 files should work flawlessly in 1.7 or 1.8 versions too. Does it in any way worth the enormous work to implement such changes? ...

onetwothree: I think the ssc/stc 2.0 standard should rethink the AU/ light year/parsec usage, and the RA/DEC hours/degrees conversion.

Re: Celestia 1.6.1 Windows Install Files

Sorry, I don't know. Personally I never thought that the 1.6.1 versions are different in any way, but you can compare them. Celestia 1.6.1 is 32 bit. The experimental 1.7 versions are 64 bit. They can handle at least 3-4 GBs of memory with huge surface 3D add-ons, so that is the main difference for ...
