Re: Display planets in magnified size.

That confirms that we can't provide a view of our Solar System with both all Planets and Moons magnified. Then if we change the distance proportionally to the magnification coefficient, we won't be able to have a magnified view of our Solar System anymore, since we'll have to zoom out the view, and...

Re: Cube maps

How about reflecting about a faster harddisk? I would prefer to first wait for some software improvements.. so far the development of Celestia in the last weeks was very promising compared to some long waiting times before. Now I hope that you'll find your free time to prepare some nice packages fo...

Re: Cube maps

It will certainly last longer before you might have a chance of using high-quality 8k-16k /one-piece/ cube map textures with Celestia ... Not even cubemap support is yet available in Celestia, let alone high-quality cubemap textures (including spherical geometry normalmaps!) ;-) . Either way, patie...

Re: Cube maps

As far as I know my latitude dependent optimizations have only been published up to now for normalmap tiles via my nmtools. Of course one needs to implement analogous optimizations into the base, spec and nightlight tiles. If anyone of those is missing, the old problem is back. Well, my Celestia pl...

Re: Mitaka Version 1.0 was released

The installation (on the Mac) really sucks ! I had to install the complete windows package (from here : http://orihalcon.jp/mitakaplus/index_e.html ), then installed the OS X version, and copied ALL the ressources files from the windows version into the corresponding OS X folders, WITHOUT overwriti...

Re: Mitaka Version 1.0 was released

uhm.. well... just what is stated clearly in the readme and on the website: that you have to both download mitaka plus as well as the original (i.e. the windows mitaka) and replace some files. works very well.

Re: Mitaka Version 1.0 was released

It runs well on my Macbook Pro. Are you sure you did not replace the whole folders, but just the files inside the folder? Actually I think that those cool functions that Mitaka offers and that are lacking in Celestia could mostly be implemented by only one change: Customized toggling of addons. My w...

Re: Varying transparency of star & galaxy labels

In 1.5.0pre3, the fading is almost perfect now. However, the orbit of 2003 WT42 still disappears abruptly. I suggest to further increase the distance allowing fading. Maybe it has to do with the very strong elliptic shape of its orbit. Also, I have not tried a fictional comet at the Oort cloud becau...

Just deleted my celestia folder and downloaded from scratch and built without problems. Probably I updated too many times without a fresh new download.

Re: Big bugs in 1.5.0 Pre 2

I have Intel XCode Version 2.4 Xcode IDE: 759.0 Xcode Core: 757.0 ToolSupport: 733.0 So far, I always succeed. When building in Deployment mode (after CVS update and cleaning) I now get 21 errors and 15 warnings. The errors: /Users/marco/celestia/macosx/../src/celengine/render.cpp:6605: error: expec...

Re: Big bugs in 1.5.0 Pre 2

I tried to compile with XCode just now, but build failed. I'm not experienced whatsoever, so far I was almost always lucky and builds succeeded. If there is anything simple and quick to make build succeed, please tell me. There are so many improvements now every day, I would really like to test

Re: Varying transparency of star & galaxy labels

It is really hard to reproduce the behaviour of this bug. Sometimes you can make a full turn around the sun with the orbits visible and the next turn will be without orbits. Sometimes you are very far and can make a full turn around the sun (complete with edge-on and view from above) with orbits and...

Re: Varying transparency of star & galaxy labels

Strange question: do you see this no matter what angle you zoom out from the solar system? That is, does the same thing happen whether you're looking at the solar system either edge-on or from above? --Chris I just made a test : the last orbits are disappearing abruptly in all cases, no matter what...

It happens at around 200 AU from Sol (between 100 and 300 AU), sometimes one can move around the Sun and it switches on and off.

Sure I can provide a patch. But since I am a Celestia developer, I rather try to convince Chris that we have it included ASAP ;-) Bye Fridger Now that Chris just committed a very nice fading effect for orbits and solar system bodies (at least for some of them), I am hoping a lot that Fridger's star...

My first opinion was: Tabs!!!! I love tabed browsing in Safari or Firefox and like one window only in general. Better texture management would be extremely appreciated! I'm happy to hear that there's hope for improvements in the not so far future.
