Re: Space Engine

Yeah a good video card is definitely needed, the Spec requirements specify a minimum of 4 gigs of RAM and a Nvidia or AMD/Ati with 1 gigs of dedicated vram, with dual core 2 ghz for th The recommended, of course is double, with 8 gigs of ram, 2 gigs of Nividia or AMD/Ati dedicated vram, and quad cor...

Re: Space Engine

I do have my own image album from Space Engine on imgur, although I haven't updated it in a few months.

About half the Images are my own custom worlds, I think. :)

Re: Planet b around proxima centauri !

After reading your post and skimming the article on sig figs, I definitely need to relearn sig figs and scientific notation.

Re: Planet b around proxima centauri !

You and me both, Omega. :) I quite dislike rounding, especially in science. My personal preference is 6 places past the decimal point. Better than 12.34, for example. :)

Re: Collecting all Celestia add-on site links?

Yeah copyright violations, if I recall correctly. I know the DMCA (?) cracks down on such much harder these days, even more so now since the olden days of shatters.net. I also remember that earlier this year CBS put forth much stricter rules about Trek fan fiction, although I don't remember if that ...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

I have no idea if Omega13a plans on returning to this forum or restarting this project, so I am posting the last version he sent me a few years ago. I named it stargen 2015. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1C6RbksuFXSakxWTGNEYzRwbzA/view?usp=drivesdk My file includes textures for the generated pla...

Re: Custom Science-Fiction Pictures from Celestia

As you may or may not be able to see from my avatar and signature, I replaced my terraformed Pluto maps with new ones derived from maps created with New Horizons data. Obviously not realistic, as the Universe I set this in is essentially my own space opera with fantasy elements (like witches and sor...

Re: Space Engine

Space Engine is great! I've been using it for almost 2 years now. It's definitely come a long way since this thread was first posted! :) And yes I've converted some of my own Celestia addons to it except the textures. I'll take pretty mountains any day over flat planets. And because cubemap is a pai...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Did you check it for custom systems as well? Because after I posted, I attempted custom systems and got the same error when taking out the -M option, and neglected to mention it.

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

After taking a few days' break, I resumed trial and error with stargen 2014, and I've noticed that perfectly legitimate option selections, when generating systems from internal star databases, stargen way too often runs into problems; likely from a typo in a spectral type; but oddly, i take out one ...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

I finally got it to work after putting the temps AFTER the spectral type, rather than before; I'm a bit brain-dead myself, as I tend to do my commands in the same order as what the -help option shows. I don't know why it would make a difference what order they are in... I tested to see if that's an...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Not to be picky, but I've noticed a few issues remain and had edited into my previous post, before the latest update was made available: (EDIT: Not to mention what order. I finally got it to work after putting the temps AFTER the spectral type, rather than before; I'm a bit brain-dead myself, ...

Sadly no, deleted entirely, because of intellectual snobbery and overreaction to some of the trolls here.

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

I think it might be time to update that readme. :P I do believe a detailed, in-depth explanation as to what works, what doesn't, what combos are good, which combos are bad, etc. might be a good idea. :) (EDIT: Not to mention what order. I finally got it to work after putting the temps AFTER th...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Still having issues... I'm beginning to wonder If maybe I'm forgetting some things myself? On top of that, I have noticed numerous typos, including "Unsupported" being mispelled as "Unsported", as well as multiple options having the same letter and capitalization; so here's 2 scr...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

That's the problem. It should be -BG3V. Its case sensitive. I'll try to find a way to make it case insensitive while I'm fixing the decimal problem. Hmm. Doing -BG3V also results in errors, but instead of "unsupported star type: ", it generates a new stackdump instead. Leaving out the tem...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system genera

Hiding individual orbits

Is there any to hide the orbit of a single object, without hiding the object itself? I tried "visible false" in the ssc file, but it just made the entire object invisible, rather than hiding just the orbit line.

This is with Celestia 1.6.1
