Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

I have read that Omega's version is [u]very[u] particular about how commands are entered. For example, if I enter this (after cd to appropriate directory): ~/New Programs/stargen-master/build$ ./stargen -m1.04 I get: Unsupported star type: ????V Type this: ./stargen -m1.04 -BG1V I get this: Segmenta...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

It was very helpful. Initially hit a glitch; the build failed. I look back at older posts in this thread and found someone who had a similar issue, so I downloaded the library necessary, tried again, and the build is done! Many thanks! Now I just have to get syntax correct on this thing... Glad to s...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

I keep getting this, regardless of what folder I open in a terminal:

Code: Select all

make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.

Of course, all I have been entering is "cmake"....no clue what to type after that...if anything. The instructions don't really say.

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

I ended up downloading CMake's GUI (I'm lazy, on top of many other things.) CMake worked, HOWEVER, I have no idea if it actually made Omega's version of Stargen...it made a folder called "CMake Files", but I can find no trace of Stargen....most perplexing!

Re: Moving my old add-ons

Like I said, at the outset of this thread, I've been away from Celestia for a few years, so I've probably forgotten how to do quite a bit...my texture making & worldbuilding has improved, but making .ssc's? A smidge out of practice.

Thanks again!

Re: Moving my old add-ons

I took a couple of screenies from the two latest ones I've done Here's one: https://celestia.space/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=7920 Here's two Screenshot from 2020-05-31 11-25-46.png As you can see in either, there is an error loading the files; I only put my textures into a file named ...

Do I download each file separately, or is there a single package?

Re: Moving my old add-ons

yeah. Everything is where it needs to be. Although, I just went through the normal means, not checking via terminal...which I don't know how to do. Check your Celestia's console (press tilde ~) to see debug messages and errors. How would I do that, exactly? I know how to do some things with Linux te...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

Ok, I was able to get Selden's version up & running (many thanks, sir!) I was hoping I could do the same with Omega13's version, but I don't see any of the C files in any of the folders, just .dll files. I've tried the directions to build his version for linux, but my terminal looks at me funny....

Re: Moving my old add-ons

New wrinkle; my old addons work well, and I even was able to edit one of them. Still works fine. SO, I tried made a new add-on from my notebook of systems. (I took up worldbuilding when I couldn't run Celestia). The planets show up around the star, but NO TEXTURES! I have: Edited the .ssc through Sy...

Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

I'm trying to build mine from source...I have not only this version, but the one Selden did in the thread you posted, PE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!!! Even though I've been using Linux (which has now successfully ruined me for anything else), I'm am not very good at figuring out the command line unl...

Re: A humble tool for creating Celestia systems

I keep getting an error about extraction. It keeps saying "Parsing Filters is unsupported." I'm running on linux if it helps. I was hoping to find something like this. All I have is the VERY old System Maker (which was once on CM, but vanished a long time ago.) For some reason, I can't get...

Re: Binaries Just "Sit There"

Ok...looks like it was rather dependent on the time speed...had to go to about 500,000,000 x's faster. Classic case of "user error."

It happens to binaries that are already in the program. Not just what I've added in.

Binaries Just "Sit There"

So I've been able to incorporate my old add-ons, and everything checks out (I think) on some of my binary .stc files. I go in to check how they look/function/etc, and my binary systems are quite motionless. The orbits are shown when you click on each individual star, but not both, and the stars do n...

Re: Need instructions on how to use "The Gimp" to create planets

Here is another one you will find helpful, it's a little time consuming, I have found the results well worth it... https://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=18280&highlight=eriond+tutorial It includes the gradients seen in the tutorial. If you've never used Wilbur, it will DEFINITELY c...
